Columbus/Washington/Boston

Post by Virtual Jarmo »

Our first three-team deal in EHEC.

To WSH: Tomas Kaberle (74) + CBJ 2nd '11 + Dean McAmmond (53)
To BOS: Brooks Laich (67) + Tomas Fleischmann (69) + Alex Bourret (61) + CBJ 4th '10
To CBJ: Mike Fisher (85) + Shaone Morrisonn (72) + Mark Recchi (75)

Guess I should explain my reasoning, huh?

Well, Kaberle just did not seem to fit in at all here. Not sure why, but he didn't. Fisher fills my need for a defensive-minded center on my second line so that Gaborik has some protection. Fisher's got a hefty pricetag, but I felt I needed a defensive center in my top 6. Morrisonn is my Kaberle replacement, sacrificing some offense, but also opening up a spot for Washington to use Kaberle. Recchi is a rental for the postseason run and Mike requested a depth guy and a pick.

The way I see it, it's Fisher for Kaberle and Laich. Morrisonn for Fleischmann and a 2nd and then Recchi for McAmmond, Bourret, and my 4th.

This trade alone is more interesting than the entire NHL deadline day.

Confirmed. Kaberle shores up my defense, and with Green and Alzner, my top three look pretty solid on paper. I give up one of my top PK forwards in Laich and a solid defensive defenseman in Morrisonn, but I have not been too impressed with their play this season and Kaberle's puck-moving abilities at even strength and the powerplay are worth it. McAmmond can fill Laich's spot until Lang comes back and gives me another veteran presence going into the playoffs.

Hopefully Kaberle leaves his curse in Columbus, I want nothing to do with it.

Confirmed. Laich for Fisher; Laich better fits into the 3rd/4th line checking role Fisher was in for the Bruins. Fleichmann is a nice depth pickup and I liked Bourret coming out of the draft a few years ago.
