With my recent dealings, I'm a little thin up front (have all of 24 forwards signed right now) and had a few extra D around so figured I ought to try and move a D for someone who can play up front. I have Matheson and Honka that can play a similar role to Santini so he's odd man out and Madaisky hasn't been getting playing time with my extra D around. Souray's better than Phillips but this saves me a little bit of cap space and I bring in Vatanen who can play F or D and has some nice offensive upside.

I had no plans with keeping Phillips and I like Souray better, because of his shooting ability and that he can help out my team with his experience (LEA 85). I'm also glad to get Santini - a young, still just 19 years old rookie d-man who already racked up 17 points in just 44 games played, seems pretty solid to me - in exchange for Vatanen who wasn't developing as expected in my system. Madaisky is a solid young depth d-man. Thank you and good luck Vik!
