Horcoff has been very coveted since he has been OTB and this is pretty much the best I got offered in terms of picks. Maybe I could have bit more if I have kept waiting to the deadline but maybe not.
The reason why I moved Horcoff now is that I still get time to trade Eller who's a salary dump in that deal. I have no specific plan for him so far, so I'll see what I could get in return.

This is a high-risk/high-reward deal where I am mortgaging my future for a chance to win a Stanley Cup. The structure of the deal allows for a mini rebuild in 2017 if necessary (lots of expiring contracts after next season).

Eller never fit in, similar to Giroux. Horcoff, like Morrow, has veteran experience with a solid in-tact skill set. I am hopeful I have finally found my 3rd line C I have been searching for all season. If I am unable to re-sign him, which is likely, I should be able to re-coup some sort of value by trading his rights in the off-season.
