This is a long term move that should benefit me this year too. The quick development of Perlini pushed Ryan to the third line for me, a role to which he isn't particularly suited. Osala is a much better fit. He's also locked in at 1.5 million per year less than Ryan which is a consideration that will make a big difference for me next year while also giving me flexibility this year should a need arise.

Pollock and Calnan should be good depth wingers for me in the future. Calnan in particular is a bit of a project, but both offer some afforadable depth which is useful in a salary cap league.

I traded the best player away without picking up premier talent in return, but this deal helps me quite a bit in both the long and short term.

I wanted to trade Osala for a long time now and this deal came up. It is the best offer I got for him for a long time.

Ryan will help my defense at forward. I had no more plans for Osala, since I went away from a hitting line. Ryan fits my cap these days so I am happy to pick him up. I know Osala was signed long term but I had to give something up.
