Reasoning: With the expiration of numerous contracts, including Cam Fowler and Tyler Seguin, it became important to shed some of the bad contracts I had accumulated over the last two seasons. While Hejda possesses great defensive skills and consistency, his contract equals him not fitting into TB's long term plans. While the return isn't much, the added financial flexibility is the biggest factor in this deal. Furthermore, the market is saturated with veteran rearguards; I was happy to find a taker for Hejda's contract.

Accepted. Hejda was basically a more consistent replacement for Markov's expiring contract. Since his contract was relatively light and he filled the gap of my only stay at home defenseman going to UFA, I didn't have the leverage to ask for any picks in return but really didn't need to. Thanks Justin!

Oh, and I wanted him anyway, like McGinn.
