Reasoning: I was planning on keeping Kris at seasons end because of his offensive abilities, but NJ showed interest in him and in this climate for defense I had to listen. The 3rd was his original offer and while the gap between him and PIT will be shortened, it was enough to make it worth moving Letang. I'm having trouble garnering interest in my other available D, so this made sense.

Indeed a much less low key trade than usual between these two teams.

However we see this as an important trade for this team, it gives us another legitimate offensive defenseman, Kris will help us move the puck better and I feel this benefits our defense a lot, we also hope to surpass Pittsburgh by seasons end, meaning we upgraded our 1st and got Letang for a late 3rd
