With this trade i'll get a great top 3 defenseman with Campoli, Whitney and Coburn. I'll get less goal against me and it's the goal. I've got some depth on top 2 lines so i was able to let Filatov go.

Finally someone came up with a good offer for one of my elite defensemen.
Coburn is a GREAT player that actually needs to play big minutes in order to be at his best. With Phaneuf back from injury to pair up with new captain Niedermayer, I could afford losing Coburn. It opens up the spot I wanted Jani Hakanpaa to have and eases Grebeshkov back into the mix.
Filatov has everything I looked for. He can put up points on the board and he's got a decent physical game going which made him that much more attractive. I can see him playing anywhere from 1st to 3rd line.
My top 9 forwards now looks really strong to start off this year just as my top 4 guys on the blue line.

Solid deal for both sides. Anaheim, as Jonathan commented, could use a stud defenseman. Julien had a glut at the position and thus adding Filatov provides a better balance.
