EHEC Draft Chatter 2011

Post by Virtual Jarmo »

Let's keep all chatter about the EHEC Draft in this thread. As I said in the League Memos thread, the Entry Draft threads are only for making picks.

EHEC must mirror the NHL as much as possible, so I'm expecting Carter for Voracek + Couturier in a 3 way deal.

if it doesn't happen in the next few hours, i expect Burke to make a convoluted rule change to make sure reality is adhered to. ;)

Just a note, since I'm sure you're all concerned, I have Austin Czarnik's ceilings fixed.

Haven't uploaded the file in a while, apologies for that.

Do we want a draft chat on the main EHEC page? It won't be to announce picks, just to bullshit during the draft.

Picks still need to be posted.

According to his draft preview, with Huberdeau gone looks like he will be taking a defenseman.

11 picks took 9.5 hours last year. We're not that far behind our regular schedule.

Like I told you, we have a lot of offseason to account for. Not worried if this takes a while.

Once EDM gets on, we'll have 4 picks done really quick.

Last year's 14th pick was made at 9:47 am on Sunday morning last year. So, we've made slight progress this year. Ahead of pace by 2 picks.

By the way, we now have Ryan Murphy, Ryan Two Space Murphy, and Ryan Three Space Murphy in the file. The latter two are not good.

the Irish are not very creative with their names (i can say this as i am half Irish); there should be less Ryan Murphys in this world and more Phil McCrackens and Patty O'Furnitures

I doubt that had anything to do with the SJ/LA CSB run-time error fiasco, but god I hope it did.

I know that it fucks up Player Scout. Just like having Bryan Miller in the game meant you couldn't see Ryan Miller in PS.

Goddamn. I am really struggling at getting my scouting sheet hitting ceilngs to correctly adjust based on height. Stupid looped IF statements. And I'm supposed to be awesome at Excel. Guess I better do it the old-fashioned way and draw up a flowchart first. :/

EDIT: I think I got it! I don't know why I didn't flowchart it sooner. It's so much easier to figure out the formula when you have a visual reference of the logical steps. Not sure how I drafted so well last year with that fucked-up formula in place. Just lucky, I guess? :?

Nice. I don't know fuck-all about Java but I'm pretty good with Excel. Richard Hildebrand (hrudey from the good ol' days at fhockey.com) wrote a nifty utility that automatically extracts the data from players.ehm into a file you can import into Excel, and I just built around that. The only thing I haven't figured out how to automatically import is the player's height and position(s), so I have to enter that manually for each prospect, but it doesn't take too long.
