It's Western Conference Night #5 and we have some mixed results...
MIN and DET go blow for blow and back and forth ending period 1 2-2, but DET puts in 2 in the third and its 4-2 DET, but 3-2 MINNY overall in the series, setting up a MAJOR game 6 in Minnesota.
Dan wins and its 4-1 in the series, but not before another shorty is let up. So let's check this... SJ has 0 PP goals, but 4 shorties again, yet are 8-2 overall in the playoffs? That's...scary. But it does appear its the 4th shortey that puts them in OT before it's Kenny Ryan as OT hero.

Re: May 22, 2025
Apparently the lesson I need to take from this is "don't over think things".
Test sims were all over the place in results, but I had a few games where Kostitsyn played poorly, then one where he got 3 or 4 minors? So I briefly experimented by replacing him with Konecny or Helenius, only to realize they can't play left wing. I decided to try Bowers, with Helenius replacing Räsänen, thinking that the extra hitting on the 4th line could be good... but those tests weren't. So I said fuck it and left things as they were, and look who got the winner, Kostitsyn with an assist from Räsänen ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't understand anything that happened, but my understanding is not necessary. Thanks for the series, Hugo, and probably see you again next playoffs.

Re: May 22, 2025
Skaters from both teams were a combined 8/90 on challenges. Thanks, EHM. LA tied it up in the last 5 minutes on a special teams goal for the second game in a row. Kenny Ryan scored the OT winner. He also scored the OT winner in game 1 of the Finals last season.
LA won their only game 4-3 in OT, just like the finals last season. Only one loss was by more than 1 goal, although unlike the finals, one of the one-goal losses was in regulation.
In conclusion, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Re: May 22, 2025
Fun fact, 8/90 (or 8.89%) is now the lowest successful challenge percentage so far this season

In the playoffs, the next worst was Nashville vs LA on May 1st, when they were a combined 34.62%... in fact, the three lowest challenge percentages, by one team in one game these playoffs, are:
LA, May 1st (26.19%)
SJ, May 20th (12.20%)
LA, May 20th (6.12%)
