Game 5 starts poorly for San Jose, as Minnesota starts the scoring 1:05 into the first before doubling their lead shortly before the end of the period.
The second period goes by without major incident, with only a few powerplays and no goals.
Heading into the third, Minny sees their lead extended to 3 after 4 minutes. But the Sharks refuse to go out quietly; Keegan Kolesar scores at the 49:42 mark, Kaapo Kakko adds a second goal at 51:08, and Ilya Kovalchuk scores his incredibly timely first goal of the playoffs at 53:02 to tie the game and send it to OT. All together the Sharks comeback takes a mere 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
In OT, the first shot is the only shot, as Kakko scores his second goal of the game to save San Jose's season and force a game 6.

JFC.
Ilya Kovalchuk finally ended his 19 game goal drought. Alright, now just score another 6 goals in the next 2 games and we're cool.
