New York -- Washington

Post by CapsGM »

To New York:
F Josh Birkholz [51]
D John Carlson [72]
D Brett Clark [74]
Colorado's fourth round pick in 2011
Washington's fourth round pick in 2011

To Washington:
D Ivan Baranka [73]
F Brian Boyle [68]
D Dick Tarnstrom [70]

Confirmed. Boyle's versatility will solidify my third/fourth lines and Tarnstrom fills in nicely in the short-term as a bottom-pairing puck mover/second-unit PP QB, and I won't be handcuffed by his contract when a prospect is ready to take his spot (which is one reason why I'm moving Clark). I see Baranka = Carlson and Birkholz + Clark = Boyle + Tarnstrom, but the uncertainty of Birkholz not fully reaching his potential and the possibility of Boyle still developing a decent offensive game is worth a premium of two late picks. Besides, I have enough low-CON guys plaguing my checking lines anyways.

Rangers confirm.

Birkholz is an intriguing -- albeit low-con -- prospect; Clark upgrades my blueline; Carlson will be money in the AHL with some pro upside with proper development; and the picks, well, you never know.

Boyle has been replaced already by one of Byers/Werek; Tarnstrom played well for me but was always a short-term option; and Baranka is a scabby RFA. He's got some upside tho, and could be a fringe player.
