Would suck to lose OTT, seemed like he could be a very active GM.

However, we seem to have been injected with a lot of new faces who are making there presence felt. My guess is GM office will really help with recruiting new GMs if need be.

Who leaves without letting anyone know anyway? Is he like 12 years old or something?

On a related note, Adam last posted here on July 28th. That's going to be 2 months now... is he ever coming back?
You guys run things smoothly and all but I'm wondering what's happened to him.

He'll be back. He's checked in a couple of times and I can't promise how/when he'll be back, but these past couple of months have been pretty crazy for him. Thanks for the kudos, Julien, and we'll keep trying to run things smoothly for everyone. Now, if only everyone could win every game, we'd all be happy, right? :D

I'll be picky here but I'll understand if it doesn't get done or whatever but I'm kinda missing the "Send Instructions" button from the GMCP. Having to go through my email account is a pain in the ass on my 10-year-old laptop.

I'm kinda looking at you again, Quinn. :D Thanks!

P.S. You can give me the Walter White picture again!

The one thing you don't get in GM Office is player status (franchise, core, regular, etc). I don't know if it effects game play; does anyone know? I bring this up b/c I'm seeing a ton of "Player X is frustrated" in the team news section within the game.

Also, apparently you can still put suspended players on your lines within GM Office. The only mistakes with lines I'm now getting before doing the sim comes from suspended players being on downloaded lines.

Pretty sure player status effects their attitude.

Yeah, that's what I thought. So that's something to bear in mind as we get into the season. Those of you who aren't using the game might want to go into it and check to see if all your 23-year-olds are happy with you at the moment.

Trying to think of loose ends that need to be tied up before regular season puck drop....

Possible rule changes to line tactics?
Was pro-ration officially scrapped?

Something definitely has to be done about line tactics. The Hit & Grind and Neutral Zone Trap restrictions are there for good reason. They are even essential. Now, we can't have GMs play scrubs on their "first" line for 10 second shifts, and play Hit & Grind for 30 and 40 shifts on the "second" and "third" line.

I've been told that this problem has been discussed before I got here. Can someone explain to me why such a rule circumvention is still allowed?

I feel necessary to add that I love this league, and that the EHEC front office is doing a tremendous job. I know how time-consuming this gig can be, and I am very grateful.

It's allowed because it's not technically breaking any rules. Until the league addresses the issue, you can't really prevent teams from using it.

Which is why I wonder if we should put this up for a vote before the season starts. Personally, I'm not in favor of changing the lines rules around significantly this close to the start of the season. I think that would be unfair to GMs who have done a lot of work building their teams this off-season. However, I think 10-second lines are wrong and should be eliminated. If I thought it wouldn't raise a stink I'd do away with them unilaterally.

Yes. I believe this is what we settled on:
Salary pro-rating - 50% salary retained by previous team after January 1st, 25% after the trade deadline.

I think a simple rule of nothing under say 30-40 seconds for first line period. Every teams first line usually consists of their elite type players, so they should be played like that.

The best way to do this is to prevent teams from playing lower lines more than the ones above.
1st line's shift length >= 2nd line >= 3rd line >= 4th line.

10 sec shifts aren't the actual problem here. 10 sec shifts for a 4th line results in players getting 5-8 minutes of ice time which isn't a problem at all.

EXACTLY, couldn't agree more. 10 seconds shifts are clearly NOT the issue here.

But come on guys, the first line is simply the one that gets the most ice-time, plain and simple.

Don't like this at all. Why should 50/30/50/20 or anything similar be outlawed? Sometimes I prefer having my skilled + low endurance players playing a shorter shift on the second line compared to my third line.

I am alright with this kind of.........just dont like the idea of first line like 10 seconds.....only time that REALLY happens IRL is when an all out brawl starts right off the start of a game really......and that dont happen much and shouldnt happen here......when was the last time we really seen a brawl right off the bat HERE? EXACTLY.....

Ok, guys, I'm going to advance the file tonight to today's date, just one day before the opening of the regular season.

I'll probably do this around 6pm eastern time US tonight, so anything you do in the file from 6 to around 6:30 will be lost. But anything you do before then should be good.

A quick stroll through the various farm teams shows that some of you have more than three under-20 players on your farm. (Note that anyone age 19 but born in 1994 doesn't count against the under-20 limit.)

Yep, got it.

ALSO: there's a limit of 50 players under contract between pro, farm, and juniors. I haven't looked around yet, but given the number of farmies on some teams, some of you may be well over this mark. This rule should not come as a surprise to anyone.
