Two close games, two blowouts, and two teams avoid elimination tonight.

OTT demolishes NJ 6-1, with shots 36-15. Noah Hanifin scores two unassisted goals (?). OTT wins 4-1, and a young Devils team will head to the offseason with some interesting choices to make to get over the hump next season.

TB storms to a 2-0 lead in the first four minutes, but gives it up by the start of the third. Kessel scores a rare PP goal to retake the lead not long after that, but John Moore evens it right back for the Isles another 3 minutes later. OT sees an incredible 3 shots before the deciding blast by the Isles' Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson, an unthinkable second powerplay goal set up by Crosby's hook a minute earlier (he was presumably hyped up from two offsetting roughing minors in the second). TB leads 3-2.

NYR actually stormed out of the gate and outshot the Pens 24-9 through two periods, yet ended up down 2-0 entering the third. The Pens struck again with another Rare Powerplay goal and looked to be cruising to victory, but the Rangers made it interesting with unassisted goals by Eichel and Necas. Sadly for them, they couldn't manage a tying goal, and in fact only managed 3 shots in the entire period and did not seem to ever pull their goalie to try for the equalizer. Okay then! NYR still lead 3-2 though.

Lastly, over in Toronto the first period passes uneventfully, but the Leafs (or at least Varlamov) melt down early in the 2nd and again early in the 3rd, losing 6-1 as well. It didn't help that Jeff Carter had to leave the game with a day-to-day injury and played under 10 minutes, meaning that Patrik Laine had to pick up the slack and finished at 26:30. MTL leads 3-2.

This cursed, cursed team. I'm firing everyone when we lose this.
