Another game another injury.. two weeks to the Sens Middleton - taken out by Lucic.
Sens lose a tight one with the Flyers coming from behind with just 3 min left to tie and seconds left to crush their hearts.
Montreal wins 46 seconds into OT to finish their series.
Rangers win and finish off the Panthers and the Bolts are a game away from moving on.

Hell yah! Onto round 2 where shizz gets real. I either get MTL (if OTT wins) or the winner of PGH/TBL (if PHI pulls out an upset). No easy games anymore.
Also apparently I found the way to break the playoff powerplay bull - don't take any penalties
Also great to see the offensive powerhouse leading the playoffs in scoring by defensemen...Jacob Trouba?

You know, just noticing that the West is the same 8 teams in the playoffs this year. A few slightly different matchups, but same 8. And last year it was CHI/DAL/EDM/SJS who advanced, and CHI/EDM already have, and DAL/SJS are up 3-2.
Hey West bottom 1/2 get your act together and challenge these guys - they are getting fat and lazy

Damn, all my trade additions got the Panthers exactly five playoff games

Not without taking game 1 first and terrifying me. I was quite worried with how defensively-minded FLA is and the way playoff games are played (simmed). Funnily enough Gibson struggled compared to Booth.AvalancheGM wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 2:24 pm Damn, all my trade additions got the Panthers exactly five playoff games

EHM goaltending is such a crapshoot. I have lots of examples over the years of my backup clearly outclassing my starter over long periods. I've had elite teams where I added a superstar goalie to put me over the top and it made no difference.
EHM focuses on calculating balance in all the wrong ways lol.

Also. How TF did Kassian score twice in a game for Dallas when he had a goals per game percentage with me of *checks notes* 0.000003985?

I agree I do wish goaltending was a slightly higher piece to deal with. It's usually just right to get a decent goalie on the cheap for a year or twoAvalancheGM wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 3:23 pm EHM goaltending is such a crapshoot. Well my general cynicism suggests it may be longer than that, but it is entirely possible that it could be relatively soon, depending on what happens with the draft and free agency. Unlikely, but possible!

I really don't know how long it will be for me. The talent level and depth in this file is higher than most leagues I've been in.

Between Foote and Gunler, 2 firsts this year, and Yamamoto is really young, you've got a great start to the rebuildAvalancheGM wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 10:10 am I really don't know how long it will be for me. The talent level and depth in this file is higher than most leagues I've been in.

Yeah, Kuokkanen is a big piece for me too. I have a really strong group of D prospects but no stud #1 in the bunch. I'm anxious to see the draft list after it's edited, considering I'll be picking no lower than 4th.
As for Yamamoto... he better get his head out of his ass next year. Not very happy with his numbers after I got him.

Based on Bob McKenzie's mid-season rankings, two of the top four are big defencemen (Power and Edvinsson), while 5 and 6 are also 6'2" defencemen (Hughes and Clarke), so your odds of getting a strong defenceman are pretty high at this point.AvalancheGM wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 10:29 am Yeah, Kuokkanen is a big piece for me too. Good point. Hoping I can get a really good prospect with OTT's 1st too, judging from what I got in the 2nd round last year.
