Chicago sends:
Patrick Sharp
Sebastien Ottosson
in exchange
San Jose sends:
Andrew Cogliano
Austin Watson
Cedric Hachler
4th pick TOR
Accepted. Sharp is an elite player, but I get to quality guys in return. Watson has a very good contract. Cogliano is signed long term too. Hachler adds depth to my D. I had no real room for Ottosson.
Thanks Sharky

Re: Chicago-SanJose
Confirmed. Seb is persistent, and I give him credit for persevering until we got a deal.
I have been extremely displeased with Cogliano's performance so far this season; his defense has been okay but his offense has fallen off the map. I hope Sharp will produce better as a winger or replace him outright as the #3C. In theory their values should be fairly similar - about the same salary and ratings, with Sharp having better DF, LE and CON; Cogliano better EN, FA, ST, and younger while on a longer deal.
The price to upgrade to Sharp is Austin Watson, who is a decent two-way playmaking winger signed to a ridiculous bargain contract. He has also not been particularly effective this season and I don't understand why, so my natural reaction is to utterly abandon him.
Ottosson is a poor man's Watson and should be a passable depth forward to replace Watson at 400k for one more year, or at worst an AHL superstar. He was also a really terrible pick in that monster 2010 draft. Hachler is an okay depth defender and the pick should be a fairly high 4th (sorry Mike) in a deep draft to balance things out.
