To San Jose

DET 1st 2014
BOS 1st 2014
PIT 3rd 20015
To Vancouver
------------------------------
Andrei Vasilevski (79)
Niklas Kronwall (77)
SJ 3rd 2014
I get the goalie I've wanted since I started here and a serviceable defenseman as well. The 2 firsts were tough to give up, there aren't any goalies of his caliber, as developed as he is available in this draft or any foreseeable ones. Kronwall will help fill the gap left by Mihalik's departure, with a little more balance on both sides of the puck.
Glad we were able to finally see this through. Best of luck Dan.

Re: Vancouver Canucks - San Jose Sharks
Nothing against Andrei, who's probably going to be a top 5-10 goalie in the league, but I looked at the playoff results and saw Vasilevski + Luongo's names at the bottom for sv% and wondered what's the point of having a 'top tier' goalie. Vasilevski will probably bounce back in his next playoff run but I'm thinking I'll be better off with a more or less average starter like Bernier plus whatever I get from those two first round picks. If not, at least I'm not getting any less than what I gave up to get Andrei in the first place (mid + late 1st, in slightly stronger drafts).
Kronwall's just a cap dump. Sorry to see him go since he's a solid D, but he makes too much for a 3rd pairing role and Ballard's fine as a second pair D. Thanks for the deal, Jason.
