2014 AHL Playoffs
Ugh, I guess I'll do this again this year, though I may split file construction in half with Patrick if he doesn't mind. This one may start a day or two later than our EHEC one just because of the time it takes to make the file.
Here are the matchups and the rules (AHL playoff format = old NHL playoff format):
Eastern Conference:
1 Providence (BOS) v 8 Norfolk (ANA)
2 Hartford (NYR) v 7 Bridgeport (NYI)
3 Hershey (WSH) v 6 Worcester (SJ)
4 Manchester (LA) v 5 Portland (PHX)
Western Conference:
1 Abbotsford (CGY) v 8 Rockford (CHI)
2 Toronto (TOR) v 7 Milwaukee (NSH)
3 Grand Rapids (DET) v 6 Lake Erie (COL)
4 Texas (DAL) v 5 Oklahoma City (EDM)
From last year's post...we'll keep this the same for this year:
Guys, I take a lot of my time to do the AHL playoff file so please participate and pay attention if your farm team is involved.
Here are the criteria we used last season for playoff eligibility:
Skaters must meet ONE of these TWO criteria to be eligible for the AHL Playoffs.
1. No more than 35 games played at the NHL level. (Players with an OF or DF 75 or greater or players who were on pro team IR for 3 or more months (more than half of 186-day season) are not eligible to play in the AHL playoffs.)
2. No higher than 72 OA and no OF/DF 75 or higher; exception: players who played 54 or more games at the AHL level this season (2/3 of 82 game schedule) or equivalent of 2/3 or more of total games played by player during season. (so, say, 36/40 or 50/57, etc.).
As always, only 3 underagers per team.
AHL waiver/max salary rules still apply. Player must have two-way/under 25/clear waivers to be sent down. Max salary is 1.5M before game applies two-way salary.
Goalies must meet BOTH of these criteria to be eligible for the AHL playoffs.
1. No more than 20 games at NHL level (1/4 of 82 game schedule).
2. No higher than 75 OA; exception: goaltenders who played 54 or more games at the AHL level this season (2/3 of 82 game schedule).
If underager, counts toward 3 underager rule.
As mentioned here, AHL goaltenders making over 1.5M will have their salaries count as 1.5M and are eligible if they meet the above criteria.
Teams who get eliminated from the playoffs who still have AHL affiliates playing in the postseason can send players down, assuming they meet the criteria.
If you're not sure if a player is eligible, just post them here and I'll answer.
Leadership changes will carry over to the main file.
I'll post the instructions on how to get the AHL file to work once I get it finished.

Re: 2014 AHL Playoffs
Hartford was a division winner, no? They should be 2nd, and Manchester should be 4th (same division as Providence), Portland 5th, Worcester 6th. Yes, apparently a 104 point season gets you the 6th seed, but also a more favourable matchup then the 5th seed since the 3rd seed is the weakest division winner.
The NHL really can't figure out a playoff system that makes any sense.

Re: 2014 AHL Playoffs
Sure thing. Does that make Norfolk #7 and WBS out?

Re: 2014 AHL Playoffs
Here's the entire AHL Playoff setup. Make sure that you're running EHM out of this folder (always Run as Admin) and rename the shortcut AHL since it will only work with the files in this folder.

AHL Playoffs will start tomorrow night, as will the main file playoffs. I'll have Pat get that fixed up and uploaded sometime this evening.
