Short explanation : Pretty solid back-up with high pot, still just 28 yrs old with great contract (950 000, length 3 years) in exchange for that 3rd round is simply good deal for me.

I'm happy with my current backup's play, and Montoya's mostly a luxury as an AHL starter. I think he'll do fine with 20-odd starts, but I need a more consistent backup to play as rarely as possible, so I'll take what I can get for Alvaro.
