I lose out on some CON and LE with moving Commodore for Niskanen, but I like Niskanen better suited for my 3rd line pairing (which is set up as NZT) over Commodore. This allows me to move Brewer up to the 2nd pairing with Cohen and have my 3rd pairing with Carlo & Niskanen.

Not sure how much Gordon will play between now and playoffs, but only reason for Gordon is to give me another guy that is solid in the FA dot (at a reasonable salary) come stretch drive/playoffs. That would give me 2 guys on my bottom 6 with over 95 in FA which hopefully would help to limit the damage against them.

Also based on 45 days (for easy math), here's the pro-rated salaries:

MTL: Mike Commodore [$432,692], Matt Niskanen [$923,076], Boyd Gordon [$730,769]
DAL: Mike Commodore [$1,442,308], Matt Niskanen [$276,924], Boyd Gordon [219,231]

This deal makes sense for me....
i get a 2nd and a 3rd for my future...while I was trying to get rid of defenceman and not gain one back, taking commodore is a salary dump and has only this year left on his contract so if i can't move him i can let him go at the end of the season
