Calgary / Pittsburgh

To PIT: Miikka Kiprusoff(78)

To CGY: Rick DiPietro(66)

While I know that Bern will most likely be unstoppable with a guy like Kipper between the pipes, I couldn't pass on cutting another 3M$ to my salary cap. I don't think that the difference between those two guys is worth that money.
I'm all about managing my money at this time and I think that it will be beneficial in the long run.

It's not like DiPietro is a bad goalie either. I just don't think I should spend 6M$ on a guy that never wow'ed me to date.
All I remember is that 3 games shutout streak he had last year.

It's a sad day for the people in Calgary as Kipper was obviously a fan favorite. We will move on from this and keep putting or at least try to put on a good team on the ice.

It's all business.

Sorry for this kid though:

I confirm! Kipper is on a one-year contract also and I had the space for him. I feel comfortable with my chances to win the cup with the players I have, so an upgrade in nets is a bonus. Glad to help Julien too.

Approved.

Kipper is the better goaltender, but DiPietro's not a major downgrade, especially when the salary difference between the two is considered.
