Vancouver Canucks - Dallas Stars

Post by VancouverCanucksGM »

To Vancouver:

Scott Gomez (77)
Kvein Bieksa (62)
Devin Setoguchi (58)
Alex Plante (67)

To Dallas:

Daniel Sedin (75)
Henrik Sedin (77)

Vancouver accepts.

This deal was too good for me to refuse. My main goal was to acquire Plante. I succeeded in that, as well as bringing back another young player in Setoguchi. Gomez and Bieksa help fill out a couple of my empty roster spots, while still being productive.

In return, Dallas gets some cap space, and a solid pair of big baby head brothers, that I as a GM was not fond of.

Thanks again Dallas for an easy transaction. Best of luck.

Need more than that, Chris. Our policy is to explain the reasoning behind every trade so we can possibly use your perspective to evaluate the deal.

Sorry bout that commish. Was on my phone and I was about to throw it because it wouldn't scroll down to the bottom. Took me 10 minutes to type "I accept" so I gave up.

I accept this because I get rid of Bieksa's contract while adding a top six forward with solid CON. I gain cap space and roster space that I plan on using to sign Morrow and to add some more D. The Gomez=Henrik, so the rest of the deal was for Daniel. I lose Setoguchi and Plante in the deal. I am not a huge fan of low CON players, so the trade off between losing them vs. getting rid of an awful contract and adding a solid top six was worth it to me.

Approved.

One part shuffling big contracts, one part filling in needs (while other deals have addressed the future for both teams).
