At this point, I'm going to say no. I'm quite busy and I have to get a calendar together for arbitrations, finish ~150 players for the draft class, and the 2013 retirement.

Slogging through some draftees today. Hoping to get another 15 done this afternoon on top of the 20 or so I've already done. That would get us to 100 and a little less than halfway done.

There's been some stirring in the Contract Offers forum. I've put Tommy on the calculation of formula contracts, so we'll see what that looks like when it gets done. Other than that, the draft class is my primary preference right now. After that, I'll get arbitrations set up. Since I'll be on vacation the first week of July, and it's my personal policy to not give a shit about anything except relaxing and having fun, I'm really hoping to be able to finish the draft class over the next week and a half and then get a good chunk of the arbitrations done before I leave.

That will take your cooperation as well. Please be timely with responding to arbitration PMs.

The draft will NOT take place the same day as the NHL. I'll be leaving for vacation the day after the NHL Draft starts and that would be a mess, with trade approvals and everything. I'm hoping to start the draft around the same time we usually do. Possibly as soon as a week after the Stanley Cup finals are over (I believe June 22 would be that date if the series went 7 games).

Trading will re-open the day after the Stanley Cup Finals conclude.

Rights arbitration is different. Here is how that process works: viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1761

You do not need to find comparable players and make a case. Just a straight salary number. You get two cracks at it before you either have to trade the player's rights again or let him walk to free agency. Please note the exceptions. If a player wants to test the market, you may have to go over the number you're comfortable with to sign him.

Division winners definitely pick last out of the teams who don't make the conference finals. I'm not sure exactly how the tiebreakers work though, it might go by head-to-head record instead of ROW if there are at least 3 games played between the teams.

For example, WSH has requested arbitration for Jamie Langenbrunner, Evgeni Nabokov, Olli Jokinen, Jim Vandermeer and Mike Fisher. According to the rulebook, WSH is entitled to request 3 arbitration cases, not all five. I assume this was to ensure free agency is still a relevant aspect of the league, like irl.

Tim, you'll have to adjust this.

As Tim correctly pointed out, much to my dismay for having more arbitration cases, the rule says that teams can sign up to three over-35 FAs. It doesn't limit the number of arbitration cases, it just limits the amount of arbitration awards that they can accept.

There's past precedent from last season: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2626#p22234

So Tim can request arbitration hearings for all five players, but he can only accept a maximum of three of the awards. Two of the players will become free agents.

It all depends. A jump from 62 CON to 67 CON isn't the same as 68 to 73. Similarly, a LE jump from 62 to 72 isn't the same as 72 to 82.

From a supply and demand standpoint, the quality of the supply is changing. The demand, I don't know.

It will have to be factored in on a case-by-case basis...just like everything is in arbitration because every case is unique.
