Posting Trades

Post by Virtual Jarmo »

Guys, just trying to help out here. I notice that you guys use words like "just a salary dump" or "he's a throw-in" or something to that effect when posting trades. Look, you should try to sell us on the trades by highlighting the positive attributes about why you're trading for a player. Think about it. You walk in to Best Buy and see a TV that you want. Employee says to you, "Well, this thing's a piece of shit after a couple years, but it's good for the price." Why would you buy that TV?

It's the same situation here. Explain to us, not overly detailed, why you WANT what you're getting. Explain the positives, not the negatives. And for christ sake, don't waive two guys from a trade before the trade is even reviewed.

It doesn't look good on someone to say, "I'm trading this guy because he's old and he sucks." What does that say to us and it makes us question why the other party wants said player.

Just a friendly reminder. Sell the trade. Act like a politician. Bullshit if you have to. Make it look good in our eyes on the surface and it might help us overlook some of the numbers gaps.

Great sales advice I once got: just list the features and benefits of a product.
