Boston - New York Islanders

Post by Bruins_GM »

To Boston: Kevin Poulin (52), Oscar Moller (79)

To New York Islanders: Braden Holtby (68) and Boston's 4th round pick in 2013 entry draft.

Reasoning:

I took on Braden Holtby and Dustin Tokarski this summer to have a goaltender competition for the backup spot to Tuuka Rask. Tokarski has gone above and beyond expectations, while Holtby has not lived up to his. With Oscar Dansk going to the farm next season and Trevor Cann rejuvenating his career in Providence, Holtby became expendable. Poulin will be an alright backup for Providence, or I can cut him for someone to keep Dansk's seat warm without consequence.

Oscar Moller is too damn good of a player to be sitting in the AHL. Good wingers who are decent at special teams, who could possibly fight, arent injury prone and are consistent are hard to come by. He might sit in the AHL for now, but he can jump up into a top-6 spot at the pro level in a pinch. Again, it gives me options for moving players to fill gaps if I need to come deadline day and adds depth for the top-6 in case of injury.

The Islanders are in it to win it, and they needed a backup goaltender badly, especially approaching the 20-game mark. Once again, both teams win by moving strengths for strengths.

Approved and entered.

Safe to say that the impact of 15+ games of Braden Holtby in net should be better than or equal to Oscar Moller's contributions.
