To Philly: Bryan Little (74), Jarred Tinordi (81), Calgary's 1st and 2nd round pick in 2012

To Calgary: Braydon Coburn (79)

Had to find myself a top blue liner to fill in for injured captain Dion Phaneuf.
Enjoying a pretty good season I felt my picks this year were kinda expandable and why not try and go for it.
Coburn has a pretty nice contract to work with while Bryan Little would probably not have been resigned by season ends.
When healthy, I think my defense now becomes elite with this move while I don't think I'm gonna suffer much from losing Little's offense.
Don't forget Calgary has the best goal scored ratio in EHEC today.

Nice dealing with you, Philly.

Trying addition by subtraction here. With Pronger and Bouwmeester locked in for a while and Larsson + other recent draftees progressing on D, I felt I could afford to deal Coburn. Little is a top 6 forward that I can use to get better balance on the lines and try to put the puck in the net a bit more. I wasn't able to say no once the picks were added, I'm sure the 2012 draft class has plenty of gems. Thanks Julien.

Approved and entered.

Reasoning: There's a chance that this trade may raise a couple of eyebrows, so I felt it best to explain our thought process. Ryan is, in fact, trading from a position of strength with Coburn. He does have two top pairing guys signed long-term and Larsson in the mix. Pot booster Alex Theriau is also developing nicely. With CGY 1st, if PHI misses the playoffs, he can package both picks to move into the top ten or simply use both picks to get two quality players. CGY 2nd is another possible packaging pick or could lead to a POT booster or be traded for other assets. Bryan Little will likely see his contract reduced or stay about the same for next season if Ryan wishes to keep him. Tinordi profiles as a pain in the ass defenseman to play against. The difference here with the low PE is that Tinordi will be a bottom pairing guy who fights a lot (85+ FI attribute). Hoefflin, by comparison, is supposed to be a skill forward who wouldn't be fit for low ice time and could be a liability on the power play if put there.

Coburn is certainly the best player in the deal, but the collective assets, and possible additional value, make this a pretty equal return, all things considered.
