Columbus/Washington

To Columbus:
F Brian Boyle [68]

To Washington:
F Mike Fisher [85]
Columbus' fourth round pick in 2013

Confirmed. Boyle has been atrocious this season (59 points last year to on pace for 35 this year) and a change of scenery should benefit him. Fisher is a lot more consistent, has a better attitude and his CH/PO fits my suffocating system.

Confirmed.

Hard to lose Mike Fisher, especially since I couldn't convince Carrie Underwood to stay, but adding Boyle fixes a hole I had on my 2nd line at LW and gives me the opportunity to field a better second PP unit. Fisher is the kind of guy who can play on any line he's put on, but I needed more of an offensive spark and Boyle still has some shooting development left to complete. I think he'll be a strong addition and the draft pick is mostly in the deal to offset the salary difference, even though both of us can afford it and I purposely waited until February so that Tim could get a better pro-rated contract for Fisher's salary.

Mike can keep Jessica Alba; D.C. welcomes Carrie Underwood to the team.

This deal is approved.

Based on CBJ and WSH's assessment both seem to view Boyle and Fisher to have equal value, with the belief the player each receives is a better fit for their system. A fourth round selection does little to shift the scales.
