Winnipeg Jets send:
G Cristobal Huet (76)
W Jaden Schwartz (81)
2nd ANA 2012
Tampa Bay Lightning send:
G Martin Brodeur (83)
Jets approve.
Reasoning: Huet was either going to be waived or eat up 5.6M in cap space for another year of doing nothing. Bringing in Brodeur, probably the best veteran goaltender in the league, makes the money spent worth it. Justin and I went back and forth a decent amount in making the deal. Schwartz's potential for 88 PM makes him a very interesting and difficult prospect to trade. However, I didn't want to be completely shut out of the first two rounds of a supposedly deep 2012 draft.
Thus, Schwartz unfortunately is the price I pay. How Justin works around his low hitting and penalty attributes will be interesting to witness in the years ahead. As for me, adding Brodeur to mentor Campbell at the pro level feels like a sound investment. In theory it should also make my selection given up for Bjugstad a bit deeper in the round. Here's to the playoffs in 2011-12.

Re: WPG - TB
TB accepts.
Brodeur was the last piece in the demolition derby that this off-season has been. Regressing attributes and an inability to steal one game against Carolina was enough to earn Martin a ticket out of TB, I was never all that impressed with his post season numbers. He won a Cup with us though, I thank him for his service and wish Winnipeg a sick post season run with him.
Schwartz is a two-way player, perfect from a trapping 3rd line to match up against opponents 1st. He'll provide secondary scoring with his playmaking but will have a somewhat limited role, curbing his icetime and hopefully PIM. Another pick in what hopefully is a deep draft is cool to, hoping its top 45. Huet? Chris-tow-balls of steel? Keeps me above the floor.
Pleasure as always Tommy, gl.
