to VAN : Carter Ashton
to LAK : 1st pick 2012 + 4th pick 2011
Accepted. Hard to let go Ashton, but could not pass on a 1st 2012. Ashton has play some good playoff hockey and i'll miss him, but again, a 1st 2012.

The trade is accepted.
Vancouver is of course taking a chance that Ashton will develop, particularly to his ridiculous hitting ceiling, but the worst case scenario is that they get a serviceable third liner who can step in now and play some hit and grind for a prospect that won't have any impact for the near future. Because we operate in real time, this trade is much more realistic than in a league where they'd simulate an entire season in a month (see, Varlamov for a first and second). As a comparison, let's take the 25th overall pick from this season: Oscar Klefbom, a projected 74/75 defenseman. While a fully developed Klefbom may be worth more than Ashton, by the time he gets to this point, the New York Islanders (NHL) will finally be in the last year of the horrendous Alexei Yashin contract.

Good point. I just finished watching season 1, season 2 is in the DVD player right now as well. I may have been influenced.CapsGM wrote:AvsGM wrote: Because we operate in real time.

Good for you, one of the very best shows that aired on TV. I still miss it. Seasons 4 & 5 are proabably the best, 6 & 7 are ok but season 8 was a pretty strong finish.AvsGM wrote:Good point.
