Resigning

Post by Tuo-SabresGM »

A couple months back, it was announced that I was resigning from my Committee positions (alongside Ryan) mainly to concentrate on my team, along with a myriad of other reasons/responsibilities. As it turns out, those reasons have finally mounted enough to announce that as of last night, I have officially resigned as GM of the Sabres and have decided to "retire" from the EHEC.

I met Adam a little under two years ago, and a good friendship was quickly born. He asked me to be a part of EHEC as it was beginning to form. I had limited knowledge of how online leagues worked, but I had a solid understanding of the game itself and its files, and with the support and past experiences of both Adam and Ryan, I eagerly accepted the role. Unfortunately, the time that I had in abundance before was taken away as responsibilities outside the league increased (growing up sucks). Eventually it got to a point where I could no longer maintain being a part of the Committee and running a team without damaging the integrity the league and the rest of the Committee. I resigned that position so Adam could find other help to alleviate some of the outstanding work he has done, with every intention of running my team, though I did take a wait-and-see approach to be sure I could do this without dragging the team through management hell. I have finally come to the conclusion that even now, I'm simply not putting enough time into my team that is necessary. Some of you may point to my paltry number of trades since this league started as evidence of this all along, but rest assured that I'm like a kid with candy at times; I'm very nit-picky and have a hard time letting any of my good players go (as no one wants the bad ones). You should see some of my past hockey video game savefiles. Hopefully my reluctance to pull some triggers has left a solid enough of a foundation for the future GM to build on.

I'm very thankful for all of the excellent people I have come across here, and want to tip my hat to Adam and Ryan for the outstanding work that they've done here. I am very appreciative of the opportunity that they gave me in the EHEC and will remember my time here fondly. It was a fantastic experience for myself and a lot of fun as well. We gathered a solid list of GMs that have been terrific and helped make this league what it is today. This league and all the work that has gone into it is something that everyone can and should be proud of. Though I won't be here anymore I will still check in from time to time to see what's happening, and I'm still available for anyone who wants to get in contact with me to shoot the breeze.

I know this whole thing is probably longer than necessary, but I figured it was better than saying "I'm done, see ya around." :P

I want to wish the best of luck to Adam, Tom, and Quinn, to all the GMs, and to the league itself. I'd also like to thank Adam and Ryan once again for all the hard work and late-nights put in, and all the fun we've had in the process.

So, see ya around,

-Nick

You could've at least traded me Derek Roy first. :P

I'm sorry you have to quit, man. This is a real loss to the league. :(

Haha, as I was typing that "triggers" line I was thinking exactly of this.

Derek Roy's available? :P

Sorry to see you go, Nick. You were a boon to the league and good to have around. (That sounds much more blah than I meant it to.) Good luck with your outside endeavors and hope to see you around again.

Sad announcement. :( At least draft with us!!

And, please come back when you have more time. I'm sure things will calm down. Back when I was extremely busy, I also quit the league I was in to have one less thing to worry about in my head, but I came back a month later because I missed it.

Anyways, take care buddy. Much appreciated work and matchups against your Sabers.

Thanks Nick for what you've done for the league. More importantly, glad we could get to be friends.

I know it was a tough decision for you. Always welcome back.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo.

I was really enjoying our little "rivalry" we had the last two years for that coveted 8th playoff seed. Sad to see you go Nick, you're a quality GM, always fair in negotiations, dealings, and communications, and what not.

Hope you can come back one day.

Take care.

:(

Sad to see a divisional rival leave but good luck in the future and don't be afraid to stop by once in awhile.

You'll be missed. It's nice to have a conservative GM or two amongst the rest of us here. ;)

Thanks for the kind words guy, I greatly appreciate it. I used the word "retire" in the loosest of terms; if things calm down and I'm able to organize the thoughts in my head more efficiently I'm absolutely open to the idea of returning. At the moment, however, I'd rather see a GM who's hungry step in and run a competitive team rather than have a near-dormant one linger.

And Bub, the Roy trade talk dates back to around the trade deadline of our first season. We obviously couldn't agree on anything, but the SOB won the Cup this season regardless. I was somehow the loser of that non-deal :P.

I'm certainly going to miss the rivalries that have been built up, especially after 2 years. Like I said it's been a blast and I'm going to miss all the nuances of this community.

Thanks guys.

It was a pleasure having you here as a GM and as a Committee member. Good luck, Nick. It'd be nice to see you return someday.
