Washington Capitals made hard decisions on waivers, sending last season regulars T.J. Oshie, Brett Pesce, Justin Bailey, Chris Calnan to AHL through waivers, and even Timo Meier, who was impressing at the camp, has been sent down to Hershey Bears (AHL.
Defenseman Keaton Ellerby have been sent to AHL as well, to start the season in Hershey.

All of this is a courtesy of new signings like veteran scoring forwards Andrew Cogliano, Joe Pavelski, two-way winger Evgeny Grachev, hard-nosed centreman Saku Salminen and puck-moving defenseman Derrick Pouliot and last but not last, the addition of star defenseman Brent Burns who can actually also play as a forward if need be. Washington Capitals also added two new additions yesterdays, defensemen Jared Hauf and Keegan Kanzig from Waivers wire.
