Guys, keep all commentary about the draft in here. I just want the picks in the Entry Draft forum.

Yeah, both those guys are absolute studs. When they're both fully developed they'll respectively be the top forward and defenceman in the entire league.

Thanks guys, I had a couple deals fall into my lap it was just about pulling the right triggers. Now I feel my teams got the talent to compete. Throw in a bit more defensive depth and i think i got a pretty good team. Excited to see how the rest of the 1st round shakes down now and see everyones picks.

I've got NYI's pick. Whenever ATL picks, you'll be up.

After talking with you about Fowler, Mike could have had Hall at #3, so he basically gave you away that other 1st. Smart move Rob!

Jesus. Guess I did make the draft a little bit too strong.

Maybe, but at least everyone has reason to get excited about their new prospects... this is no "only ten players out of the 180 drafted will ever be more than fringe NHLers" drafts. I might be biased though since I have so many picks. :D

But yeah, my projections (this is using (OF+DF)/2 rather than OA, which I consider to be an unreliable indication of value) show all of Seguin (87.4), Fowler (85.51), and Hall (85.1) better than the top-rated existing player (Zetterberg at 82.76). Niedermayer is at 80.85 while Iginla checks in at 80.83.

Damn thats impressive thanks for the stat breakdown like that Parker. And thanks Pit I knew I had to take TO's deal either he scoops Fowler and I trade Hall for what I want or keep him and aquirre D some other way or Fowler, who I wanted with my 2nd pick, falls to me and I get a free pick on top of it. :D Win Win!

What about Rick Nash? 86+88= 174, 174/2 = 87.

Oops.

You're absolutely right. My scouting workbook's calculations for veterans are a little screwy because it figures out everyone's attributes based on them hitting their ceilings. It doesn't take into consideration guys whose attributes are already higher than their ceilings would allow through normal development. I guess I better take back what I said above until I can make some adjustments to my workbook for more accurate veteran player analysis. My bad. :D

Granberg is a bit of an off the board selection...

I think I asked this before but are we keeping any EHM generated pot boosts to high-con prospects? Not that these two comments are in any way related.

Yea its a natural part of the game anyway and can be an interagual draft strategy so for sure I think it should be left alone.

McIlrath's a nice pick, was the guy I would've taken at 13, were it not for his subhuman strength level and my desire to piss off my fans.

IMO Granberg was too early, but we all have our own different values and opinions on players, your own opinion should only matter.

Nice pick Thrash, I was considering Forbort due to my need for D but he wasn't exactly what I wanted so I decided to go big or go home and instead traded for Kovy with you. On a side not how long are Kabanov and Johansen gonna free fall?

I might of pick Shipley too early, but I was rushed. Didnt need a d-man so opted for a attacker. :?

You rushed yourself, bud. I just wanted to know when you were around. I wasn't hurrying you to make your pick.

Blame the buzz on that.

Shipley is a decent player, not too often you get 99 SH with 99 HIT.

Not to mention if he overdevelops his skating and checking which is very realistic, assuming he's on D training, he'll be a steal.

what happens if the draft is still going on when the regular season starts? any picks made after this can still be signed if we want, right?

Just a heads up. In the interest of expediency (that's saving time for you non-Thesaurus-oriented people out there), we are instituting a one Committee trade approval for the hours after Nick and Ryan go to bed. So that would be me. They both work early and EHEC is my job.

Just letting you all know. If I'm torn, I will talk to one of SJ (Dan) or PHX (Parker) and get their input.

It's a dictatorship now, boys.

Re: Draft Chatter

Brickley, eh. Now there's a serious wild card. With two POT boosts this guy would be the top player in the draft, but at only 78 CON he's kind of a longshot. Even if he gets one boost he'll be a very solid player. I was going to pick him myself but I was hoping he'd fall to the 3rd round. Gutsy move by Florida.
Jungle Cats

Re: Draft Chatter

Post by Jungle Cats »

I lost my early second rounder 'on a whim,' by making that trade with Adam to no discernible personal benefit (the kind of whimsy that costs real GMs their jobs! ), so I he kinda leaped up my list, since i'm next up at 55. And a guy like that, I know some wingnut in the 2nd round will jump on. One boost, he's quite good. Double boost, he's excellent.
