Short night as Boston makes quick work of NJ after a short stumble out of the gate, Columbus' acquisitions come through for GM Adam Burke, and the Flames inch ever closer to the last playoff spot in the West.

http://ehechockey.com/EHEC.zip gives you the details on the chase for the playoffs.

YESSSSSSSSSSS! Finally a win! Yes, I'm a little drunk, and it makes it that much sweeter on a Monday night.

10 powerplays, only 29 shots, and 2/10? Yet I still win. I'll take that. I got some secondary scoring too!

If the playoffs started today:

Western Conference:
1la
8sj/cgy

2cbs
7nsh

3van
6edm

4phx
5chi

I think LA is probably the deepest/best team in the West but San Jose and Calgary in the 8 seed is scary as hell. NSH/CBS both have cooled off a bit but are two really good teams. I like EDM but VAN has too much of an edge in the goaltending department. PHX/CHI two highest scoring teams in the league.

My rankings:
1. LA
2. PHX
3. CBS
4. CHI/VAN/NSH/SJ/CGY/EDM

Eastern Conference:
1was
8buf/mtl/ott

2phi
7pit

3bos
6car

4tb
5nyr

East should be more predictable (in the 1st Rd at least) with the top-4 teams being the top-4 most of the season. I was surprised to find out the Rangers' had such a high point total and they certainly have the goaltending. Pittsburgh is always dangerous with their studs but PHI is too good. Eric Staal might be the best player in the game but the Bruins have a pretty deep team.

My rankings:
1. TB/BOS/WAS/PHI
2. NYR
A single injury to WAS or TB could be devastating. PHI and BOS are the two deepest teams in the East. Might be the 4 best teams in the entire league.

Very cool look at the playoff picture there. Nice to see that my Flames are considered "scary". Not lately, but there is definitely a threat that they can get rolling at some point, just hoping they begin to produce.

Bring your fans down to Dallas and make some noise, I don't have enough here :P

Big game tonight for me and for the Flames and Sharks...
