Like the NHL's voting system, we'll use a ranked ballot. You can vote for up to 3 candidates. Your top choice will earn 3 votes, second 2, and third 1. Moreover, although I will provide some candidates/suggestions below, you do not have to vote for players on these lists. You can vote for whoever you want if you have a better idea who should win; these are merely suggestions.
Please also note that all of these awards are based on regular season stats only, other than (obviously) the Conn Smythe. Check the latest EHEC file for correct regular season and playoff scoring. Please note that the team standings are not correct. Several teams have been edited to get correct playoff seeding. The standings I've listed below for the Jack Adams/GM award are correct.
HERE ARE THE SUGGESTED CANDIDATES FOR THE 2013-2014 SEASON:
Vezina Trophy (Annual award given to the goalie that best excels in his position)
1. Jack Campbell, Winnipeg Jets (40-16-2-2, 2.26 GAA and .897 sv% in 62 GP)
2. Steve Mason, Los Angeles Kings (37-23-1-6, 2.37 GAA and .895 sv% in 67 GP)
3. Roberto Luongo, Phoenix Coyotes (19 GP with Vancouver) (33-25-1-6, 2.34 GAA and .894 sv% in 67 GP)
Jack Adams Award (Annual award given to the EHEC GM/Coach adjudged to have contributed the most to his team's success)
As with last year, vote for the GM/Coach combo because we do the actual coaching around here. Although there is a separate GM of the year award it doesn't make much sense to vote for a coach who did nothing. Pittsburgh won the President's Trophy with 115 pts and San Jose finished 2nd with 113; Phoenix and Montreal tied for 3rd with 112 (curiously, they also tied for 3rd last season, but with 111 points each - talk about consistency).
Calder Memorial Trophy (Annual award given to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the EHEC)
1. F Tyler Toffoli, Winnipeg Jets (22-35-57, +15, 18 PIM, -68 T-G, 16 SB in 78 GP)
2. F Nicklas Jensen, Pittsburgh Penguins, (17-28-45, +28, 12 PIM, -14 T-G, 13 SB in 51 GP)
3. D Olli Maatta, New Jersey Devils (5-32-37, +3, 40 PIM, 12 T-G, 78 SB in 82 GP)
4. G Andrei Vasilevski, San Jose Sharks (38-18-1-8, 2.35 GAA and .890 sv% in 67 GP)
Hart Memorial Trophy (Annual award given to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team)
1. F Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks (48-62-110, +11, 46 PIM, -85 T-G, 35 SB in 82 GP)
2. D Cam Fowler, Tampa Bay Lightning (17-43-60, +1, 20 PIM, 56 T-G, 115 SB in 81 GP)
3. F Alexander Ovechkin, Detroit Red Wings (46-50-96, -5, 86 PIM, 12 T-G, 56 SB in 82 GP)
Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (Annual award given to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability)
1. F Anze Kopitar, Pittsburgh Penguins (36-47-83, +38, 10 PIM in 82 GP)
2. F Jordan Eberle, Edmonton Oilers (35-43-78, -10, 14 PIM, in 82 GP)
3. D Jonathon Blum, Pittsburgh Penguins (13-35-48, -3, 8 PIM, in 75 GP)
James Norris Memorial Trophy (Annual award given to the defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position)
1. D Alex Pietrangelo, Winnipeg Jets (12-38-50, +6, 30 PIM, 143 T-G, 78 SB in 80 GP)
1. D Cam Fowler, Tampa Bay Lightning (17-43-60, +1, 20 PIM, 56 T-G, 115 SB, 28 mins/G in 81 GP)
3. D Petter Granberg, Florida Panthers (13-50-63, -11, 28 PIM, 28 T-G, 106 SB, 28 mins/G in 82 GP)
Frank J. Selke Trophy (Annual award given to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game, usually Rick Nash)
1. F Rick Nash, New York Islanders (41-30-71, +5, 94 PIM, 121 T-G, 100 SB in 82 GP)
2. F Nathan Horton, Dallas Stars (28-21-49, +6, 43 PIM, 84 T-G, 32 SB in 76 GP)
3. F Anze Kopitar, Pittsburgh Penguins (36-47-83, +38, 10 PIM, 88 T-G, 19 SB in 82 GP)
John Bucyk Trophy (Annual award, given to the player that had the most surprising impact on his team). I am decidering that this excludes rookies, otherwise it's kind of redundant with the Calder. Although it is kind of a backhanded compliment!
1. D Carl Sneep, New Jersey Devils (12-29-41, +11, 27 PIM, 134 T-G, 34 SB in 82 GP)
2. F Jordan Caron, Boston Bruins (29-43-72, +4, 52 PIM, -37 T-G, 50 SB, 68.4 FO% in 82 GP)
3. F Chad Kolarik, Dallas Stars (33-36-69, +4, 44 PIM, -110 T-G, 37 SB in 84 GP)
Bob Probert Award (Annual award, given out this year for the first time, to the most fearced (feared+fierce) agitator in the league)
1. F Logan Couture, Winnipeg Jets (140 PIM, 19 T-G, 17 FW in 24 FI in 82 GP)
2. F Julius Junttilla, Philadelphia Flyers (212 PIM, -83 T-G, 19 FW in 30 FI in 82 GP) (How does a guy with 1 TA the whole season fight so much???)
3. F Brandon Archibald, Florida Panthers (148 PIM, 29 T-G, 14 FW in 19 FI in 71 GP)
4. F Dalton Smith, Tampa Bay Lightning (75 PIM, 75 T-G, 10 FW in 12 FI in 67 GP) (Guess nobody wants to fight him anymore...)
The Conn Smythe is usually awarded by EHM. That's dumb, so vote for the winner instead. EHM gave it to Iginla.
Conn Smythe Trophy (Given to the top playoff performer).
1. F Martin St. Louis, St. Louis Blues (17-8-25, +13, 16 PIM, -16 T-G, 11 SB in 23 GP)
2. F Jarome Iginla, Pittsburgh Penguins (14-7-21, +6, 4 PIM, +21 T-G, 12 SB in 20 GP)
3. F Henrik Zetterberg, Anaheim Ducks (8-17-25, +3, 10 PIM, -13 T-G, 11 SB in 18 GP) *
4. D Jonathon Blum, Pittsburgh Penguins (5-12-17, +7, 2 PIM, +16 T-G, 10 SB in 20 GP)
* yes, I know his team didn't even make the finals, but damn. He still tied for the scoring lead anyways.
Please keep in mind that if you use game ratings from the statistics page, the ones shown for playoff scoring are actually averages for playoff *and* regular season games. You should not use them for Conn Smythe voting.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Send your ballots by PM to me. I will accumulate the results and post the winners once all ballots are received. All votes are due before the draft starts, which should be in 2 weeks or less.
