Three games require action past regulation on a fairly light Friday night. JVR returns to action to net the tying goal and scores in the shootout as well for Pittsburgh. In Detroit, LA is pushed to a shootout of their own but the result is predictable. Femur adds to Pat's woes after the Rangers jump out to a two goal lead while the Jets somehow escape the Saddledome with a point despite registering just 7 shots.

Not a chance. Savard has him smoked. Also, thanks Femur!

So what if Savard's +/- is 57 points higher, Frolik's got 4 more points. On my shitty team, no less.

+/- has nothing to do with the MVP award.

With two people being very close in points...what else would you use? Comparing a guy who is -20 and a guy who is almost +40....quite the drastic difference. I could see the argument being made for Frolik if he was running away with the scoring title, but that isn't the case. He's not even in the top 3 IMO. I'd list it right now as Kane, Savard, Staal.

I'm quite impressed. Nice way to snap that 4 games losing streak.

+/- can't decide a Hart trophy winner, you have to take everything into account. Frolik has some pretty nice numbers other than points and +/- but so do Staal, Kane and Savard. You could also look at things like league positioning, how much they lead their teams in scoring and even if they have linemates in the top 20 for scoring in the league.

You have to include Frolik in the conversation, defensively he's much better than Kane or Savard.

all things answered:

1) hawks win! hawks win !!!

b) yw, brad

3) mvp - Frolik loses points with me because the real Frolik sucks so bad he is often either a 4th liner or left out completely. i know this shouldn't matter, but it does.

Savard loses points because he and his brother never ran out on a $20 cab ride

in other words: Kane!

From the division lead to the #3 draft pick position after Ryan O'Reilly got injured. Really, a 70 OA centerman is the difference?

He's obviously not much better defensively if he's -20.

It's Most Valuable Player to his team, can't award that to a non-playoff team. Frolik isn't making a difference in Florida. They'd be in the same spot in the standings with or without him. Maybe a few pegs lower, but probably not by much.

Without Staal, Canes are probably fighting for 8th right now, and same with me with Savard.

No difference, pfft.

Panthers are a lottery team with no chance at the playoffs without Frolik. With him, they're the best of the shitty teams with no shot at the playoffs or a lottery pick. That's worth something, right?

6 shorties! Just look at his corsi!

and some sick flow. also no chance of replicating this season any time soon.

This.

Not to mention, Frolik's played a bulk of the season without Weiss and Granlund.

Frolik's 80 points for Florida are like 120 on 20+ other teams. No offense, Zaq.

Not a chance. Kostitsyn plays on his same line and is only +20.

Only 7? Kostitsyn is not pulling his weight this year. I think it's the new contract.
