Time to Get Going Again

Post by Virtual Jarmo »

Well, boys, the long offseason is just about over. I will be advancing the file tomorrow night for the first time in what seems like an eternity. Get your training things in, get whoever you want on the NHL roster, and start preparing for the preseason.

Couple items. First, make sure you're familiar with the GM Control Panel. All instructions and line submissions will go through there. Second, make the preseason as easy as you can on Tommy and Quinn as I will use a good portion of these five game sims to get them acclimated to using the GMCP, simming, and uploading.

Start recruiting, if you can, for any of our vacancies. Looks like we may be having to replace a couple guys and I'm hoping everybody else comes back once they get the mass email I'm going to send out to get everyone back on board.

Once everyone is back around, I will take care of adding some of last year's retired players to the staff file so that everyone has an equal chance at bidding on them and whatnot.

Good to be back and active. The third season of EHEC is ready to go.

File uploaded. I just saw in the FTP where I get the .lns files, so I'll put those in tomorrow and they'll be reflected for tomorrow night's one-day advance.

I went through the player filter and changed the retiring status of everybody age 34 or higher who is not currently UFA. If there's somebody younger than that who is set to retire, let me know and I'll change it.

Beyond that, file is advanced to the 30th. I'll put those lines in tomorrow and double check them against the posted lineup on your team pages and make sure that's all working.

The Yotes get serious this year. No more fucking around and losing games... it's gonna be an 80-2 regular season (the two losses coming at the hands of Toronto and Detroit as Coyotes castoffs Chad Kolarik and Matt Lombardi combine to score fourteen goals in two games) and a 16-0 playoff run. This year's theme will be Too Many Vladislavs.

Some sets of lines were invalid so I didn't bother putting them all in. Just uploaded without the newest savefile.

Make sure you upload an updated set of lines for your preseason games.

Haven't checked because Quinn hasn't redirected the emails to the league in regards to lines being sent in. Have no idea who actually sent lines.

Guys, just wanted to throw out there that if anybody wants to volunteer any sized donation to cover hosting costs, it would be much appreciated. The hosting bill is due September 17. PM me if you're interested in helping out. There's no obligation whatsoever to contribute. I know that some guys mentioned helping out during the summer and I just wanted to throw this out there again.

Thanks.

Teams whose lines did not update properly:

Edmonton
Philadelphia
Pittsburgh

All other lines are in. Training is in.

http://www.ehechockey.com/EHEC.zip

Teams playing on 9/5: BOS, BUF, MTL, NYI, NYR, NJ, OTT, PHI, PIT, TOR
Teams playing on 9/6: CAR, CHI, CBJ, DET, FLA, NSH, STL, TB, WSH, WPG
Teams playing on 9/7: ANA, CGY, COL, DAL, EDM, LA, MIN, PHX, SJ, VAN

Get your lines in. Not sure who will be simming what days, but I assume all 3 of us will rotate through this first set of games.

i know that all of the answers to my questions will be: because Femur, you are retarded and can't work the computer, but let me ask them anyway:

1. why are my lines working in the sim, but on the new site they keep registering as other team's lines?

b. why does my EHM Manager keep crashing now everytime i even look at the Winnipeg Jets?

3. why are my Free Agent offers not taking? i need to fill out a few spots on the minor league roster so i don't auto-sign three guys i will cut later.

I'd never be that mean.
1. why are my lines working in the sim, but on the new site they keep registering as other team's lines?
Lines are updated by going to the GM Control Panel link in the top right corner. Then click Upload EHEC Lines. Click Browse. Find your .lns file (I'd recommend saving it to the desktop). Select that. Then click Upload.

The way you're doing it is the old way. I've been entering the .lns attachment from your emails, but it doesn't update them on the site. That happens when you upload them. The simmer then takes it out of a folder on our FTP server and loads them into the game that way.
b. why does my EHM Manager keep crashing now everytime i even look at the Winnipeg Jets?
Because you don't have the Jets new logo in your EHM/pictures/logos folder. Because I had to change config_teams.ehm, the way EHM does those logo pictures is to have a picture with a corresponding name. Like the Hawks are abbreviated CHI in config_teams.ehm. In the pictures folder, there is a corresponding logo titled chi. Also one for the arena.

There's two that need to be added to your pictures folder. Winnipeg's arena and team logo. I'll add them to the upload again. It's just a simple copy paste. Just overwrite the whole folder, so long as you have the most up-to-date config_teams.ehm.
3. why are my Free Agent offers not taking? i need to fill out a few spots on the minor league roster so i don't auto-sign three guys i will cut later.
I fast-signed those guys in the waiver wire thread because they were 60 OA and under. Guys 60 OA and under don't need the bidding process. They're on your roster in the file. Or at least they should be.

No, I don't know why your junk is in a permanent state of shrinkage.

Yes, you are a terrific hockey player with great vision of the ice.

Hmm, I don't know. Maybe if you were the last guy on earth...
