NEW WEBSITE!
Gentlemen, get ready for the new era of Eastside's Hockey Elite Collide.
We are changing and changing for the better. The new and improved ehechockey.com is going to be the most detailed, most user-friendly, and most stylish EHM league website on the internet.
The new site will launch around midnight ET tonight. After that, there will be a post detailing all of the new features of ehechockey.com.
Major props to Quinn and Justin for their website work, and especially to Quinn for learning php code on the fly to create the new website.
You guys are going to be blown away. It's definitely the last piece we needed to make EHEC the absolute best EHM league the internet has ever seen.
I cannot be prouder of what has been done here, from Quinn for making it to my past Committee to my new Committee to all of the contributing GMs. Thank you to all of you. This hard work is a thank you to all of us in some way or another.
Enjoy.

Re: NEW WEBSITE!
The website has been launched. Please hit the refresh button if your web browser's cache is still loading pages from the old website.
Here is a general run down of some of the new stuff:
Logo: As you can tell, we have a new logo which should appear on each page.
Rulebook: For now, the rulebook will remain in PDF format, and a link has been provided to download it on the Rulebook page. In the future, the rulebook may be translated back into a web-based format.
Downloads: Similar to the Rulebook page, a link to the league file has been provided here. In the future we expect to expand to different types of downloads (in game stuff, desktop wallpaper, etc.)
Standings: This page is running PHP script that will automatically detect the standings from our game file.
Statistics: This page is running PHP script that will automatically detect the league leaders from our game file. Note that for now only the scoring leaders are present, but there are plans to expand to include more statistics using the same script.
GMs: We expect a new batch of avatars (thank you to Justin!) shortly, and they will be posted on this page upon completion.
Application: This is a link to the same application we had before.
GM Control Panel: This is where you can do your day-to-day duties. Your log in information is the same as your forum account. You are able to upload your lines in .LNS format for both EHEC and the AHL, you are able to send instructions without opening your e-mail, and you can view a list of unrestricted free agents and their attributes, your roster and your payroll.
Team Pages: Underneath the banner you can click on any team logo to view general information, statistics which run a PHP script to automatically detect the stats from our game file, each team's roster including AHL and prospects, the starting lineup for the EHEC and AHL team, as well as a draft history for each team. Also, don't worry Justin and Glen, you will get your Stanley Cup banners shortly.
You may notice that the majority of teams have a 'blank' EHEC and AHL lineup - please upload the .lns file using the GMCP and they will automatically update on the website (hit refresh if it doesn't appear).
Bugs: Of course, there will be some bugs. The first one I've noticed is the header above the forums; the table seems to be misaligned. Please post in this thread if you find any others.
Also, please feel free to post any feedback and/or suggestions in this thread. Enjoy everybody!

Re: NEW WEBSITE!
Amazing Quinn, bar none this is the best EHM league website ever created imo. Even outdoing the old BEML site (to those who were around then). Quinn also deserves 99.99% of the credit, this was all him. Unfortunately I couldn\t do the one thing that was asked of me on time
before leaving for Italy, so the avatars will have to wait till I get back.
Outstanding!

Re: NEW WEBSITE!
Tremendous job by Quinn. Everything looks awesome. The GMs are excited. Things are really moving in the right direction as we head into our third season.
Couple things about the setup.
I realize, as some of you noted, it kind of makes EHM insignificant. While it's true that you can now look right at a guy's attributes while browsing the main EHEC page, you still need the services of EHM to send lines. That's the key thing.
The lines are automatically renamed and overwrite the previous file each time they are uploaded. They are designed to go into a folder on our ftp server which we can access prior to simming.
There are still some things we are working toward achieving, including a scoreboard ticker on the main page and a matchups section that can read schedule.ehm and output a "Today's Schedule" type box on the main page.
As Quinn said, we're going to update the Downloads page to include things like an updated fastsim file and also utilities like an updated config_teams.ehm, the updated pictures folder. Past savefiles like the AHL playoffs and the Olympics. I'm sure some of you will want to use an EHEC wallpaper.
Quinn will also be changing the browser tab/bookmarks logo to match the new logo. I will be posting an updated Rulebook today or tomorrow with our rule changes and the new EHEC logo in it.
The only thing right now that the payroll does not take into account are buyouts. Be aware of any buyouts you might have and add them to your payroll when making sure you aren't below the cap floor/above the cap.
Unbelievable job by Quinn. Love it. Thanks buddy.

Interesting. The error should disappear after you upload your lines (any .lns file will do) for the first time. Let me know if the problem persists.NashvilleGM wrote:Awesome job guys !!!!!!!!!!

It appears there is a glitch where everyone's leading scorer isn't appearing. Stamkos (TB) and Nash (CLB) as aren't either, no idea on the solution just pointing that out.Parker wrote:This looks amazing. Outstanding job.

Good catch guys. It seems the array stored inside PHP starts at 0, not 1 as I have in my code. It is currently fixed for PHX and will be fixed for each team shortly.

Great job Quinn, we definitely keep getting better and better.
In the GM Control Panel, under Main it has my team name but the lines for Phoenix, all the other 'tabs' are good though.

Re: NEW WEBSITE!
I checked it out - I don't see a problem in the code. For whatever reason, since you have not uploaded your lines, the script is satisfied with reading in PHX instead of PHI. I just uploaded my lines and renamed them PHI instead of COL, and you now have my lines. So basically, whenever you upload your lines, it will sort itself out. Let me know if it doesn't work.BSBullies wrote:Great job Quinn, we definitely keep getting better and better.

Looks great. The only bug I noticed was that Johan Matsson showed up in my draft history... which is in players.ehm, actually, so it's not a website bug.
And really, if you can figure out lines.ehm 101 you don't need EHM anymore... except for those test sims which we'd all be wise to do more often

Most definitely from when I had to let the CPU draft for you because of that runtime issue. I thought I got all the picks that it made for you (you drafted four or five goalies) but I guess not. Will be edited in the next file.SharksGM wrote:Looks great. Re: NEW WEBSITE!
The goal of the website wasn't to make the forums obsolete. I like keeping the trading block right where it is. I still want traffic to the forums because we have to keep a level of dialogue among GMs to keep the league going at a high level.TorontoGM wrote:How about a Trading Block feature?
We can start talking seriously about who wants to contribute for a forum-based chat section. Now that the PHP code is done and the site has switched over, now is the time we can begin looking in to those things.
It'll be minor updates for the site now.

Awesome stuff Adam. Except for the what appears to be a right handed player as the logo.
Re: NEW WEBSITE!
Hey guys, one thing I noticed was that in the Draft Picks section, for instances of multiple picks in a round, the order is messed up. For example in my 2010 draft it lists Alt first rather than Connolly. No big deal, just thought I'd let you know. Love all the infornation on the new website!

Avatars uploaded. They are sick.
Instructions on how to get to Avatars.
Enter User Control Panel -> Click Profile Tab -> Edit Avatar (on left menu) -> Display Gallery
In Local Gallery in the drop-down menu, select Category EHEC Avatars 2. Click Go.
There you go, boys.
Awesome work, Justin, thank you.
Slimmer and sleeker. The old ones will still be there for your convenience if you prefer them over the new set. Justin made those too, so no hard feelings if you choose to stay old school.

Updated Rulebook is posted, including sim schedule.
M: Quinn
Tu: Tommy
W: Adam
Th: Adam
F: Quinn
Sa: Adam
Su: Tommy
Thursday and Saturday seem to be the busiest days on the schedule, so the most experienced simmer will keep those days.
Expect delays early in the process, though I will probably have Quinn and Tommy do the majority of the preseason to get their simming legs.
