There's only one place to begin tonight in EHEC. After suffering a chest injury in tonight's game, Vincent Lecavalier will be forced to retire from professional hockey. A crushing blow to the Lightning who win over the Hurricanes, but are the biggest losers tonight. The Rangers take care of business and win the Atlantic Division. Several playoff teams gain momentum with season-ending wins, while my Jackets have to press on without Mr. Underwood for 2 weeks thanks to Steve Montador. Travis Zajac will have to wait a month to golf, and John Moore starts a lease on a Maserati as he has gotten $500,000 worth of Exhibit 5 bonuses.

Thanks for another enjoyable regular season, guys. Good luck to the playoff teams and Tuesday's lottery teams.

.......we allow career ending injuries? :|

Who was the last NHL player to retire because of an injury from an on-ice play?

Odds are, it will be Marc Savard.

I hope not, but it's not worth putting your body in even more risk. I had forgotten about Keith Primeau also. But I mean a chest injury? Did he get his heart ripped out or something?

I feel sorry for Tampa.

Not to sound cheesy, but Vincent Lecavalier was the heart and soul of TB. Stamkos is front and center but Vinny was driving the bus. I guess I don't have to worry about cap issues the rest of the way :P. Don't feel bad for me, as braggy as this sounds I was extremely confident I'd be repeating as Stanley Cup champs this year (I didn't bother doing the 5QF simply to avoid the question). Winning two EHEC Stanley Cups in a row would be a high so great, I'd be unable to continue everyday life and turn to blonde haired strippers, coc and LSD to try and recreate the feeling and get my fix. I was starting to see myself years later bottoming out on crack, broke and on the streets as a male prostitute giving handjobs for Fallsview meal comps after getting booted from EHEC (spent my entire budget on hiring re-incarnated Jaromir Jagr as a scout).

This definitely closes the gap in the East and I look forward to the challenge of defending my title against all the contenders. Don't worry Nick, I'll still be tucking you and your WinnipegHatorade bottle into bed very early in the 1st :).

lol, there was a good 20 seconds of shock where I put my phone down and went  but I luckboxed that ECF last year. I remember going for runs outside at night during that Boston series and thinking to myself "if I win this series, I'll never ask for anything EHEC related ever again" in terms of getting gl. I got super lucky, went on to win a cup and it was awesome. Knowing the chance of someone else getting that feeling (that really appreciates and spends time on his team) has gone up, makes the hurt of losing #4 not so bad. Challenges are a good thing, I know probably everyone thinks TB is done and there is very little chance of us repeating. I beg to differ.

oh and thats not my poker face, this is

^I'm surprised you didn't even mention Carolina or Eric Staal.....I was sure you would be halfway to NC with a torch in one hand and a pitchfork in the other.

A TB/CAR playoff matchup would be very interesting.

Well that's unexpected, to say the least. I guess I'll take this turn of events - TB still finishes first though since I needed a regulation loss from them to tie in points. So both EHEC and NHL Carolina disappoint me, but it might not matter in the end. Bring on the Stars.

PS I think you could argue that Jiri Fischer was forced to retire due to an on-ice chest injury... same with Cherepanov :o

Hahaha, technically Cherepanov never retired and both were off-ice medical conditions. :P
