to NY Rangers
L/R Brendan Perlini (82)
DAL 2nd 2022
to Pittsburgh
OTT 1st 2022
Pittsburgh (somewhat reluctantly) agrees. Loved Perlini, a guy we brought in early in the rebuild when I took over and he was a big part of our turnaround and did good work for this team. Trading him at a discount within the division, but it was going to be real tough to make it work with both Jensen and Perlini, and while I fully planned on trying, it is probably the right decision to get some value for him instead.

NYR accepts. I don't like moving a first, but Perlini is coming in for a bit of a discount because Seider and Hughes have their raises coming. It puts me closer to the cap than I want to be too, I'd rather have more flexibility in UFA. I may find another deal to do that. But this one is about getting a player that'll ultimately upgrade my right side. Was he potentially going UFA? Sure but this is the price of avoiding a bidding war.
