Re: Chicago
An award has been determined in the Carey Price arbitration case.
Terms: 7 years
GM comps & proposal: 4.2M; Luongo, Fleury, J.Gibson, Mason
Agent comps & proposal: 5.5M; Varlamov, Mason, Markstrom
Price's case is an example of how deflated goalie salaries for top-level 'keepers have been in the EHEC. Luongo is not really a comp given his high attributes and his cap-avoiding contract from some years ago. And Fleury and Mason are both up for arbs this year...and will likely see their salaries go up as well. Price has been a vagabond, playing with five teams the last two seasons, but not due to lack of talent. He puts up good numbers for both good and bad teams, and deserves to be considered in the top echelon of league goaltenders.
Overall, he may be a cut below Fleury, but is comparable to the olden days of now-rotting corpse Kiprusoff. I award Price 5.1M for 7 years.
Seb, you can accept/reject this award. You may also adjust the terms to a 4 year deal if you choose.

Before we go to free agency. Which I'd like to start sometime next week, depending on how fast the rest of the rights trades arbs roll in. (Right now: not fast)BlackHawk Down (Seb) wrote:Any deadline date ?

At 7 years...Bernyhawks wrote:Re-sign Beach and Zajac to max years
Beach = 5M
Zajac = 6.3M
It's easy enough to look up here.Bernyhawks wrote:Can I get an estimate on Bunting, Bristedt and Chipchura?
Here's the required salary for each number of years for each player.
Code: Select all
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Bunting 2.45 2.45 2.45 3.00 3.00 5.00 5.00
Bristedt 1.60 1.60 1.60 3.00 3.00 5.00 5.00
Chipchura 1.80 1.80 1.80 3.00 3.00 5.00 5.00

Thanks Vik!
So, re-sign Beach and Zajac. Decline everything else.

Re: Chicago
I doubt it matters much but Philly's post reminded me but for Beach it'll actually have to be 5.05M (I screwed this up last year and I think I ended up being the only one called on it).
Re: Chicago
I think we should allow 5M, 7Y. Might change the rule/wording on this.
Only because 5 050 000 is an ugly number to look at.

Re: Chicago
Question for this upcoming contract season:
Can I sign these guys before the UFA period or they automatically become free agents because they are 27+?
Tuomo Ruutu
Mark Stuart
Dan Girardi
How much will they cost me?

You can re-sign them, but the changes to free agency haven't been decided yet so I can't tell you how much they'll cost, except for Dan Girardi who is asking for a billion dollars.Bernyhawks wrote:Question for this upcoming contract season:

That's right. If you wanted to go longer, you'd have to add 10% for each extra year.Bernyhawks wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:40 pmMatthew Tkachuk
