Farm Playoffs
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to check in and see if there is interest in doing AHL playoffs?
As this is coming up quick as one of the simmers we'd need to know so we can make sure the rules (which prob exist somewhere) are in place and adjusted if need be, as well to do the setup of flipping the rosters which I've never done before and could be a pain.
Perhaps some small bonus' for teams partaking and doing well.
As of right now the top 16 teams are
Cleveland
Bakersfield
Binghamton
Laval
San Jose
Utica
San Antonio
Bridgeport
Providence
Rochester
Ontario
Hartford
Hershey
Texas
Iowa
Wilkes- Barrie
look to have a playoff spot but I can't be sure unless I flip the rosters and stats.
So Yea or Nay and any thoughts you have.

I like the idea, even if I won't likely be participating

Sounds great. Of course the guy with a farm team of 35 year olds doesn't want to lol

I'm indifferent I think. Kind of a nice to have, but setup work required is not insignificant, and doesn't really bother me that we don't currently have it.

To much work, just give a sliding scale of LE boosts based off reg season standings

Re: Farm Playoffs
I'm pretty sure that your 5-67-1 farm team with a GF v GA of 130 v 530 isn't going to be invited.
Anyways, it's a pain in the ass. With some effort, I could provide a script to flip the rosters and submit lines through GMO so that you can still use a similar sim procedure, but otherwise you'd have to go back to manually entering line changes. The saving grace is that the last time we bothered with farm playoffs, very few people actually submitted lines, but you know what that implies...

Re: Farm Playoffs
Courtesy of Kevin (DET), this is what the farm playoff matchups would be if we held them:
1. Columbus: Cleveland 60-22-0 (120)
8. NY Rangers: Hartford 44-36-2 (90)
2. New Jersey: Binghamton 50-27-5 (105)
7. Buffalo: Rochester 43-34-5 (91)
3. Montreal: Laval 50-28-4 (104)
6. Pittsburgh: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 46-34-2 (94)
4. NY Islanders: Bridgeport 49-29-4 (102)
5. Boston: Providence 47-33-2 (96)
1. Edmonton: Bakersfield 54-26-2 (110)
8. Detroit: Grand Rapids 39-38-5 (83)
2. St. Louis: San Antonio 50-31-1 (101)
7. Minnesota: Iowa 41-40-1 (83)
3. San Jose: San Jose 49-31-2 (100)
6. Dallas: Texas 46-35-1 (93)
4. Los Angeles: Ontario 47-29-6 (100)
5. Vancouver: Utica 48-31-3 (99)
I'm willing to help organize this if others want to handle most of the simming, but I'd start them no sooner than the end of the 1st round.
Eligibility would be something like only players with under 10 NHL GP this season, and rosters fixed at the start (don't want to deal with the headache of roster movements while the pro playoffs are going on).
So far we've had NYI, BOS, NYR, STL, MIN, VAN, DAL express interest, PIT maybe and EDM not so much. I'm on the "eh okay" side as long as I don't have to do more simming after the initial setup. If anyone else who would actually be participating wants to vote yea/nay, now is the time.

Re: Farm Playoffs
Generally was a fan of the idea when I ran a league years back, but it's a TON of work to set up. IIRC the only attribute that was developed that we carried over to the main file was any changes in LE.

Re: Farm Playoffs
Like you, I'm probably in the "eh okay" side, admittedly influenced by the fact that I actually squeaked in. I probably don't mind doing some simming, but would ideally do it the same night as when I do the NHL playoffs, which may depend on which teams are left after the first round (for those unaware, I'm not simming the NHL east because of potential conflict of interest with my brother's games, while presumably I shouldn't be doing AHL west games because of my own team).SharksGM wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 5:11 pm
