2020 Playoffs
The 2020 EHEC Playoffs will begin on Friday April 10 (two days from now) with the Western Conference matchups:
1) DAL vs 8) ARI
2) EDM vs 7) STL
3) CHI vs 6) NSH
4) LA vs 5) SJ
We'll then have Eastern Conference games per the game-generated schedule the next day (Saturday):
1) MTL vs 8) CBJ
2) CAR vs 7) NJ
3) PHI vs 6) TB
4) OTT vs 5) FLA
I'll edit the standings so CBJ gets the 8th seed that they sadly earned by having 36 ROW over NYR's 35 and update the save file again tomorrow.
The draft lottery will occur at the end of the first round and I'll post more details when we're closer to that date.
Any questions?

Re: 2020 Playoffs
Not that it affects this but tiebreakers changed this year: first tiebreaker is RW, second is ROW.
Since it was brought up in the other thread, what teams are currently open?

Re: 2020 Playoffs
We don't blindly follow NHL rule changes and in this case it doesn't make sense since we don't have clownshoes 3v3 OT. But anyway that discussion can wait for the offseason.Vik (Habs) wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 11:41 pmNot that it affects this but tiebreakers changed this year: first tiebreaker is RW, second is ROW.
Arizona and Detroit. If anyone from the East who missed the playoffs wants to they are welcome to interim Arizona for the playoffs.Vik (Habs) wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 11:41 pmSince it was brought up in the other thread, what teams are currently open?

True. Instead we get first shot wins OT.SharksGM wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 10:41 pmWe don't blindly follow NHL rule changes and in this case it doesn't make sense since we don't have clownshoes 3v3 OT.Vik (Habs) wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 11:41 pmNot that it affects this but tiebreakers changed this year: first tiebreaker is RW, second is ROW.

Just popping in here to cry some more tears. Not directed at anyone, you guys are all great, just my general sadness at missing the playoffs so closely.

Re: 2020 Playoffs
When and how are we doing the lottery? Random number generator?
I don't even care if we even do one at all to be honest ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As a GM who probabilisticially is likely to benefit from a lottery I care

Also wondering when the edited CSB list will be available.

Re: 2020 Playoffs
I've been less motivated than usual to work on draft stuff even though I kept my 1st rounder because of the, uh, lack of hockey. But I'll set it up for the weekend.
Meanwhile, if someone wants to point me to some vaguely credible top 150 prospect lists, ideally with brief reports/bios, that would be swell. I've found a few but certainly not as many as last year.

I have an aggregate excel sheet drawing from 26 more and less reputable sources, I can send it your way if you want? It's mildly out of date, as Larry Fisher updated his top-400 and I haven't entered it yet. Many of them don't have reports/bios, but I'm happy to help find ones for you if that would be useful.SharksGM wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 11:41 pmI've been less motivated than usual to work on draft stuff even though I kept my 1st rounder because of the, uh, lack of hockey. Uh yeah sure if you have all of that, it would save me a lot of effort, thanks. I don't care about having the latest and greatest since projecting beyond the top 5-10 is hopeless anyways.DetroitGM wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2020 12:18 am I have an aggregate excel sheet drawing from 26 more and less reputable sources, I can send it your way if you want? Can you send it to the commissioner email?

Done.
Am happy to share with anyone else if they want, I do this kind of thing for fun and it really only costs me time (technically two of the lists cost me money, but I'd be paying for The Athletic regardless)

The Hockey News is offering the digital version of its draft preview for free through their app. I tried to get it but the app doesn't work.
Can you send that stuff to me too Kevin?

Ya, I saw that, it's nice but mildly annoying - they allow you to print, so you can save pages as pdf if you want, but you can only do it 2 at a time. I saved the rankings for now but nothing else, might do the rest later.AvalancheGM wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 3:05 pm The Hockey News is offering the digital version of its draft preview for free through their app. I tried to get it but the app doesn't work.

Re: 2020 Playoffs
Wow, that is quite the compiled list. Now if only a draftee generator would write itself...
