Free Agency/Offseason
Here's the plan for the rest of the offseason:
1. The RFA re-signing period will end Saturday at 11:59 PM EST. Get all of your players signed or given QOs before then or they're headed to UFA. If we haven't found a new Florida GM, we'll also re-sign their players to sensible deals.
2. Shortly thereafter, we'll advance the file. I think it can be done without lowering salaries. After that, we'll offer QOs to the players who need them. Then we'll do the 20% salary cut and advance the file past July 31st.
3. UFA signing will begin on Monday, August 7th at 7 PM EST, so you'll have a couple of days to review your boosters (if any) and make last-minute trades before UFA. UFA will proceed as usual until the pre-season starts.
Any questions?

Just tried and it didn't let met advance a day in 1.16. This being the boost sim and all, it's kind of important that we use 1.16.SharksGM wrote:2. Shortly thereafter, we'll advance the file. Re: Free Agency/Offseason
File updated.
Will update the 4 remaining teams soon and we'll have Free Agency finally start on Wednesday 7pm EST instead.
Sorry, we were hoping some guys would show up but they are not, I guess. MIN has been around not that long ago and so was OTT. NYR answered my emails but never actually showed up.
I have already signed guys to their 1-year QOs and I will post a list of all the RFAs with the next and final file update.
I will also give the RFA compensations a little update only to have more round numbers there, nothing major.
Finally, I will also add that in order to make an offer sheet, you need to have your own picks matching the compensation.
Now's a good time to tell me of anything that's been missed and whatnot.

Missed a 0 in Rutkowski's salary.
Ebbe Sionas shouldn't've got a contract.
Was anything done about Matteau?

Re: Free Agency/Offseason
File updated past the rollover. Still a few things todo: Pronger, Elias, Doan, Boyle, Pahlsson and Backstrom should be set to retire before rolling past July 31. Probably a few other 38-39 year olds with expiring contracts too.
Now the exciting/depressing news, boosters (that I noticed):
Pierre-Olivier Joseph
Mackenzie Entwistle
David Farrance
Markus Phillips
Jesse Koskenkorva
Gustav Lindstrom
Robbie Stucker (1x)
Mario Ferraro
Kristians Rubins
Pavel Yelshansky (2x)
Dylan Coghlan (1x)
Dylan Samberg
Griffin Mendel (1x)
Vladislav Yeryomenko
Ivan Lisin (2x)
Sorry Vik, better luck next year.
I'll pass the file over to Julien to fix anything that's broken/missing. If he can get it ready in time for UFA to start, we're good to go. Otherwise we may have to delay the start by a day before rolling over to August.

Re: Free Agency/Offseason
Just like you would a UFA, on the forum directly, open bidding. Remember that for quite some time, you'll only be able to send offer sheets matching the calculator number. After, there's going to be another couple weeks where the players will accept offers starting at 120% of their last previous salary. You also need your own picks matchin the compensation associated with your offer.Capital Gains wrote:If you want to offer on a RFA, do you still send it to Free Agent account?
Re: Free Agency/Offseason
That really doesn't make sense in regards to RFA offers and being out in the open. If player makes $1.000.000, I should be able to just offer him $1.200.000 (20%) and not a number of a sheet.Calgary.Flames wrote:Just like you would a UFA, on the forum directly, open bidding. Re: Free Agency/Offseason
There used to be one but we don't need it anymore with open bidding.
I don't get what your point is, they are RFAs, you shouldn't be able to offer sheet players like crazy, it's meant to help teams control their young players until they get to a certain point in their careers. No one's signing other teams' RFAs in real life either.

Re: Free Agency/Offseason
In order to make staff pretty much irrelevant and fun-only, we'll have them all rated equally with 80 across the board.
You'll get to pick who you actually like in real life and not care if they're better than the next guy anymore.
So, don't bother editing or re-signing your staff for now.

Re: Free Agency/Offseason
If you're after other teams' RFAs, it doesn't make a lot of sense to just offer the 20% increase on their salary anyway. They were qualified so, presumably, that's what the team is expecting to re-sign them for meaning any such offer is almost guaranteed to be matched.Capital Gains wrote:That really doesn't make sense in regards to RFA offers and being out in the open. Re: Free Agency/Offseason
Is there a minimum bid for UFAs to start free agency or is it just the minimum salary for everybody?
I doubt it comes up this year but are we allowed to match maximum bids (max salary for max years)?
Do we go by 80% of spreadsheet numbers for RFA offer sheets?

from the rulebook:Vik (Habs) wrote:Do we go by 80% of spreadsheet numbers for RFA offer sheets?
- Once a RFA has received a qualifying offer, other teams can send an offer sheet. To send an offer sheet, a team must have his own picks for the compensation associated with the salary being offered. The offer sheet must be posted in the free agency forum and must at least match the salary determined by the salary calculator, until September 1, game date. After that date, offer sheets must be at least a 20% increase on the player's currently listed salary. Salaries below league minimum will be adjusted to that number. And on September 15, RFA who have received no other offers will be signed with their "owning team" for a one-year deal at 120% of their previous contract.

Re: Free Agency/Offseason
Came up with a rather crude estimate for where teams are at cap-wise. I included any player that met one of the following:
The first number is how many players are included, second number is total salaries of those players, third number is where teams would sit if they filled their remaining spots with league minimum (600k) players.
- Waiver eligible at December 31st making over 800k
Not waiver eligible at December 31st making over 2M
Non-goalies rated over 74 OA (>= 75)

Also, the numbers I posted before will be slightly overstated for any team with buyout penalties - I hadn't rolled those back yet.

I don't know. We didn't purposely set anyone still under contract to retire, but we also didn't go through and unretire every player under contract that the game had set to retire at the start of the season.Vik (Habs) wrote:So do we gotta add that as a cap penalty? Cap ceiling and contracts went down by 20%.
So also the cap penalty that the team is carrying also went down by 20%, right?

Re: Free Agency/Offseason
We will terminate the free releases on September 1st.
We will have a "waiver day" on October 1st which means that all players will be considered a part of your NHL team and in order to fill your farm team, waiver-eligible players will need to clear before being sent down.
