What are the rules, right now, on July 20, 2014? I did not trade Chara under the old rules. It seems the rules have changed. Is greed a factor, right now, or not? I don't care if other people made trades before knowing what the rule changes would be despite knowing rule changes were coming.

I had to trade Chara because of this, but I think it was because he wanted to test the market in-game.

Commissioner (CBJ) wrote:That post was from before the new financial policy. Player greed has nothing to do with rights arbitration anymore. That had to do with players that refused to accept offers in EHM, so we couldn't even offer them a contract. It's irrelevant now.
Chara was traded before the new financial policy. Greed has nothing to do with rights arbitration anymore.

Players testing market cannot re-sign.

Rights arb for test the market players = 105% of arbitrator's proposed salary.

Two offers to sign.

The rule on this hasn't changed, per se, it's just been better-defined.

Okay, file has been advanced a couple of days. I entered all the approved trades, staff hirings, and promotions/demotions. I did NOT enter any contracts, nor have I done the draft yet. Yet....

Please make sure I got all the trades right, as there was a shit-ton to do. Check your player's CONs as well; I had to reset some CON drops, but sometimes they don't show up in the news tab in the game. So check your recent trades to make sure your new offensive linchpin doesn't now have a con of 29.

Just a note - if you trade players just by swapping their teams in players.ehm, their season stats change to their new team, messing up their career stats.

Also I didn't download the file itself yet, but either you didn't upload the players.ehm on the site, or you didn't download players.ehm from the site first. All of the promotions and changed I made to my roster to the GM office were reset.

The file has been advanced enough that career stats are not affected.

As for the players.ehm file....I wasn't aware that it needed to be downloaded from the site first. Ah...good to find that out now rather than later. Sorry about that.

We're beta-testing the new bracket systems in our hidden Committee forum. So far, so good. We should have something before Friday to unveil.

It's done. I'm giving Tim the credit and the glory. It should be posted tomorrow.

As a result, free agency will be pushed back a few days.

Just a quick not to those GMs who haven't posted any salary extensions/offers yet, NOW is the time to start doing that. We have not yet set a start date for the free agent frenzy, but you should be seriously thinking about getting those offers to your guys in pretty soon. Once we announce free agency and advance the game forward, anyone who hasn't been offered a contract, had an option accepted, etc, will go UFA.

We still have to do rights and goalie arbitration, so UFA will not start for at least another week. Thanks for your patience.

Also, we'll be posting rewards for draft reviews later this week; you have until Wednesday at midnight (Eastern time) to post a review in the Team News forum. We have twelve so far....it would be great to get at least half the league invested in this. :P

Also, please let us know which contracts (this includes ELCs, extensions, arbitrations, and rights offers) by Friday at midnight (Eastern time). We will set our arbitration schedule shortly after.

I know everyone is probably anxious to begin UFA. I imagine most trade talk has died off because GMs are waiting to see what's available on the open market.

The guys behind the scenes are doing a lot of heavy lifting, especially with the updated UFA system. I'm really grateful we have such a strong core.
