2011-2012 EHEC Rule Changes
Alright, to further compound your displeasure with D E5 bonuses, let's look at this year's rule changes.
First, the goalie games played rule is being changed. This year in the NHL, just 6 of the league's 30 starting netminders playing 67 games or more. With the growing importance of the backup goaltender, EHEC will now have a 67 games started or 4,100 minutes played. 4,020 would be playing 67 full regulation games. I will account for overtime periods and the backup being pulled with the minutes played restriction. EHM does not do a proper job with goaltender fatigue.
So, goalies can play a max of 67 games started, basically, or 4,100 minutes played.
Second, there will be a change to what we allow for lines. I will re-affirm that the tactic Hit & Grind cannot be used on the first line, also no more than two lines. Hit & Grind total line time will be restricted to 70 seconds and no more than 50 seconds max on one line. So, you can do two lines of 50-20 or 40-30, but no more than 70 seconds with the Hit & Grind line tactic. It's obvious that this is the best line tactic to use. Putting in this restriction should level the playing field and maybe lead to more exciting games.
So, Hit & Grind: No 1st line, no more than two lines, no more than 70 seconds for your entire team, and no more than 50 seconds shift length for a line using H&G.
Not necessarily a rule change, more of an amendment. AHL level goaltenders will not have their salaries based off the Fastsim. It is ludicrous to pay Jeff Frazee 1.9M or Jeff Zatkoff 2.4M. Rather than send all of these guys to arbitration, AHL goalies 74 POT or below will be calculated by using the formula. If their salaries are still above the AHL maximum of 1.5M, they will be permitted to play and just count for the full 1.5M for the AHL salary cap. If they get called up, they will count for their full salary against the NHL salary cap.
For now, that's all I can think of. The Rulebook will be amended early next week with these changes, once I get everything in order.

I have no complaints, but you mentioned something about staff changes a few days ago?

Was it about adding the retiring players to the staff file? I'm pretty sure that's what it was.SharksGM wrote:but you mentioned something about staff changes a few days ago?

Oh boy Tampa Bay might make the playoffs!
So someone can play NZT on all lines? It's not a fair tactic.

The Rulebook asks for it to be kept realistic. If it looks like I'm going to need to cap NZT along with H&G, I'll do that.Penguin wrote:Oh boy Tampa Bay might make the playoffs!

Ive never used NZT on more then two lines, plus it's nowhere near as dominant as HNG so bite me.Penguin wrote:Oh boy Tampa Bay might make the playoffs!

Also, unlike with H&G, there is an opposing strategy that counters NZT very well. I'll let you guys figure out what it is.

There is also a strategy that counters the one that counters NZT well. Then there's one that counters that one to! Etc. etc. etc. I can't wait till the league becomes a battle of super well rounded teams, then GM's will have to adjust playoff game to playoff game and guess what opposing GM's are going to use.

Good time to bump this.
The first line cannot use the hit & grind tactic.

I think you should make it NZT also! And, same NZT time limitations as H&G.

Should I also ban trading?
I've done a lot to make this as even a playing field as possible and whatever I can to make the game more realistic. I'm not going to limit how teams are run past the hit & grind tactic. NZT may be a very good tactic, but you're always allowed to play matchups. That's why the lines are posted on everyone's team page. If you want to play that strategy you can.
Teams have been constructed the way GMs want them to be and if that includes trapping the hell out of someone, then that's what they wanted to do.
Oh, and by the way, Justin, I hope you grew out of that awkward, ugly child phase that you posted for us. I wouldn't go around showing that picture to everybody.

There are two teams still in violation of the H+G rule. Please fix your lines accordingly.

I can't believe I actually have to post this, but defensemen are not permitted to play forward on the powerplay.
