Re: 2011 Draft Class, Playoffs, Etc.
7 more draftees added to the file today. Spent most of my time upgrading the previous 30 based on the end-of-season CSB rankings.
They are: Jamieson Oleksiak, Mark McNeill, Mark Scheifele, Tomas Jurco, Connor Murphy, Shane Prince, and Phillip Danault.
One change to the POT boosters in regards to the financial policy. $500,000 just for drafting one is crazy. So, POT boosters will get $250,000 over slot and then get an additional $250,000 if they boost. For 5 POT guys who can boost twice, the price is $250,000 per boost, so if they boost to 6 POT, that's $250,000, if they boost to 7 POT, it's an additional $250,000, so $750,000 over slot.

Fixed Beaulieu's ceilings.
Added 13 players to the file:
Matthew Puempel
Alexander Khokhlachev
Rickard Rakell
Seth Ambroz
Rocco Grimaldi
Joel Edmundson
Mario Lucia
Stefan Noesen
Brett Ritchie
Daniel Catenacci
David Musil
Myles Bell
Tyler Wotherspoon
Top 40 NA CSB are now in the file. Going to start on Euros when I do more updates. I think the mid-term top 10 are in there now, so there'll be some editing of them.

wish i could get the rest of the GM's to draft like my fast sim - I got Sean Couturier and Adam Larsson because the computer decided to choose the best CBA not the best players...
I'm also just sticking my nose back in so you know I'm active. Did you need any help with the draft though?

Nah, it's going pretty well so far. Tommy's been my fact checker and pointed out a few things, so I've got my watchdog on that. Appreciate the offer, though.Oilers_GM wrote:Did you need any help with the draft though?

Mike (TOR) just reminded me of something important. Check on your staff members for expiring contracts and then just post that you wish to re-sign all of them in Team Personnel forum.

For non-playoff teams, the E5 bonuses are already in.TorontoGM wrote:Are you gonna input the new extensions/E5 bonuses when you do the mandatory raises?
For the new contracts, I'm kind of stuck right now. It's either, I enter them all on one day, or I determine a day for each team. The OF+DF / 2 formula changes day-to-day, so there's a good chance that the posted number is wrong and needs to be re-calculated. I should have done them all on the day that they were posted. I think what I'm going to do is enter all of them in one day later on, probably after the playoffs are finished.
I hope guys don't change their status to testing the market if they go so long without being offered a contract, but I'm pretty sure that they do.
I don't really want to enter extensions for current playoff teams because they still have to be under the cap and then it's more work for me to keep their previous salary and all that.
I'm rambling. I know this makes very little sense. But, I can't think right now.

I was just wondering cause I'm trying to figure out my cap for next season.
Thanks.

Made sense to me, Adam, but then I may be special. But thanks anyway, since I was wondering if playoff teams should go ahead now or wait to make their arbitration offers/cases.
Re: 2011 Draft Class, Playoffs, Etc.
Lake Erie is starting a goalie rated 77 OA, and five of their top six highest-rated players each have more than 35 games of NHL experience.Commissioner (CBJ) wrote:The rule has been posted of only two guys with 35+ NHL games and nobody above 74 OA.
Huh, it turns out I'm violating this rule myself. Eaves, Fiddler, Fedoruk, and Jones all have more than 35 games of NHL experience. D'oh. I'll be sure to fix that for the next game.
I have a question: what happens if a guy develops above 74 OA during the playoffs? Is he no longer eligible to play?

Pretty sure it refers to 35 NHL games played this season.Parker wrote:Commissioner (CBJ) wrote:Huh, it turns out I'm violating this rule myself. Eaves, Fiddler, Fedoruk, and Jones all have more than 35 games of NHL experience. D'oh. I'll be sure to fix that for the next game.

35 NHL games played this season only. It was basically put in place so that it didn't create a really unfair disadvantage to teams with guys in the NHL playoffs. Since EHM has so many 55-60 OA AHL players, three or four 74 OA guys will run wild.Huh, it turns out I'm violating this rule myself. He's fine. I'll edit the EHEC file to show the changes from the AHL playoffs, including LE.I have a question: what happens if a guy develops above 74 OA during the playoffs? Is he no longer eligible to play?

Guys, I'd really like to be able to get the arbitration hearings done for teams who aren't still playing. Especially for the non-playoff teams who haven't had much to do. I really do not want to have to track you guys down, so please take care of the important business.
Just over a month and a half until trades are re-opened and the draft preparations really begin!

Oh cool, I thought you were only going to update the LE attributes. Mark Alt is making some pretty serious progress in his development during these playoffs and it'll be awesome to get those improvements carried over into the main league file. I really appreciate the extra effort, and I also think it adds incentive to play developing players instead of the veterans on your farm roster that you've had scratched the whole season because they'd Vopatize if they got into any AHL games during the regular season.Commissioner (CBJ) wrote:He's fine. Thanks for addressing my other concerns as well. I didn't even know about that rule until today; I was a fucking zombie at the start of the playoffs due to a plant shutdown (working 14-hour days, sometimes without more than about ten minutes worth of breaks during the day) and I missed a bunch of forum posts around that time.

Re: 2011 Draft Class, Playoffs, Etc.
As far as I'm concerned, they're still playing so they're still developing. It's a simple fix. Just copy/paste the first 12 numbers in the players.ehm file for that player over to the main EHEC file. Nothing else changes.Parker wrote:Oh cool, I thought you were only going to update the LE attributes. That said, if a player who has been playing in the AHL file needs to be called up due to injury/suspension/whatever, I'm not going to make those changes. They'll be done after the conclusion of the playoffs. What I posted before the playoffs was that LE was carrying over, but said nothing else about the other attributes.
So it'd be unfair to allow them without having that policy known throughout. For example, if you called up Alt, he'd be what he is in the EHEC file, not the carryover from the AHL file.
Yeah, it was a little buried in the first post of this thread. Thanks for addressing my other concerns as well. The Toivonen post is here: viewtopic.php?p=11759#p11759I know it's a difficult time for teams who aren't in the playoffs. Hopefully most of you will have an AHL team to keep an eye on. Again, something I forgot to add to the Rulebook, and because I didn't do AHL Clear Day rosters since I figured most people wouldn't care, I am not going to allow teams to load up their AHL club. This is completely unfair to teams who have both their parent club and affiliate in the playoffs. Teams will only be allowed 2 players who played 35 or more NHL games this season. These players must be 74 OA or under, otherwise, they'll be mostly unstoppable. Waiver rules still apply if any of these guys are eligible.

Re: 2011 Draft Class, Playoffs, Etc.
Ha, looking back at least year's pre-draft thread, I did the entire draft class in about 10 days just before the Draft. So much better doing it a little at a time.
I know the offseason's tough for a lot of teams. I get that. And looking at the members list, I see that we're definitely having some guys that are falling back from the pack. I wish there was something I could do to better increase activity and keep everybody involved. I cannot stress enough how important it is to take care of contracts and get your guys submitted for arbitration. My arbitrators are very busy people and I really do not want to throw a mountain of cases on them all at once. Not to mention, I don't want to have to calculate a ton of contracts all at once. Especially because there will be some variation in the ones that have already been posted. I'm going to set a date range where contracts will be compiled and entered. I just won't sim over that date range and then advance all 2 or 3 days or whatever once I get all the contracts entered.
I'd guess that it will be sometime in June, but that does not mean that you should not be around until that point. Staff need to be re-signed and arbitration cases must be filed. Not to mention, trading is unlocked and scouting for the draft can be done.
Stay active, guys. Please. The work is never ending for me, so I hope that you guys pay me back some of that respect in the form of being around and posting.

FYI, there's a brief article on ISS risers and fallers on HF. The ISS Top 30 looks pretty similar to what I'd rank the EHEC draft class - only recently rising midget Grimaldi and plummeting monster Biggs are noticeably out of place.
Re: 2011 Draft Class, Playoffs, Etc.
i would have liked to see David Musil a little stronger on the hitting
as that's what he's known for. I picked up the hockey news draft preview - looks like a few good kids coming up in the next couple years too! including Tie Domi's kid who apparently can score!

19 more. Would be 20 but the Euro CSB rankings seem to be missing #37.
Vincent Trocheck
Logan Shaw
Matthew Nieto
Scott Oke
Adam Clendening
Lucas Lessio
Ryan Tesink
Andy Welinski
Marcel Noebels
Sean Kuraly
Henri Auvinen
Nikita Nesterov
Gustav Bjorklund
Maxim Shalunov
Peter Ceresnak
Dean Kukan
Jyrki Jokipakka
Mattias Backman
Pascal Zerressen
That would make 87 draftees in the file. Top 50 NA, top 40 Euro. No #37 listed on CSB, Marchenko (25 Euro) and Pettersson (29 Euro) were both drafted last year in EHEC.

Going to work on the draft class tomorrow. Wife's got jury duty so I'll have to be up at 7:30 am. When I get back, I'll work on the draft class. I'll also advance the file then.
I'll have a big announcement regarding contracts tomorrow as well. It'll warrant its own thread, so be on the lookout for it.

Re: 2011 Draft Class, Playoffs, Etc.
I decided to go with what I originally said I would do and ONLY carried over the LE from the AHL file. That's done for tonight's upload.
I know I caused some confusion by saying I would carry over everything, but I originally said just leadership and felt it best to stick with that.
I'll also have a couple of new rule changes to announce in the very near future once I do some research. I know what I want to do, I just need to clarify it for myself.
Also, status of the retired players has been changed. I will make a few of these guys coaches in the staff file and will allow bidding on them when FA starts at the conclusion of the Draft.
