Welcome everyone to Opening Night of the seventh season of the EHEC! Glad you all could make it. Now, since you're not here for me to ramble on, let's get started...
Results here: http://www.ehechockey.com/schedule.php
League file here: http://www.ehechockey.com/ehec.zip
MTL 4 - TOR 2 ... tough opener for the Leafs at home; Vik's rebuilding? Not tonight.
NYR 3 - CHI 1 ... shut down performance by the Rangers and Lundqvist
CGY 5 - VAN 1 ... Burmistrov scores first for Vancouver, but then it's all downhill from there
SJ 5 - LA 4 (ot) ... Quinton Howden is our first OT hero of 2015-16
Good to be back. No injuries, no suspensions.

HA! It's all been an elaborate ruse wherein I make you think I'm going with a terrible lineup and then I ...Commish Bub(NYR) wrote:MTL 4 - TOR 2 ... tough opener for the Leafs at home; Vik's rebuilding? Not tonight.
Hmm. I'm seeing Rasmus Kulmala as getting the most minutes for a center and Oskar Lindstedt getting the most for a D. And my team had more than twice as many shots as they did? And they aren't tanking? OK, I'm a little confused (mainly as to how 4th line/2nd PP Kulmala got the most ice for my centers).
Mike Brown, Andreas Dahlstrom, and Thomas Raffl were all demoted without being placed on waivers (Dave might not be up-to-date with the rulebook).
St. Louis has 5 underagers.
Winnipeg (21), Minnesota (19), Ottawa (21), and Washington (20) are under the roster minimum (though Ottawa claiming Jenks would fix that for them).
Florida (51) and Arizona (53) are over the contract limit (though the Knot deal will bring Arizona down to 52).
And here be the cap numbers:
COL 91,120,000 - Still need to demote everyone.
EDM 76,271,250
WPG 70,227,500 - Our trade will put them at 67,627,500 though they'll still need a callup.
FLA 69,275,000 - Waived Daley so, assuming he's demoted, that could save them $1M.
VAN 69,227,500 - Only team that played today that's over (boo!). Have an extra skater so should be easy to get under.
PIT 68,785,000 - Have an extra skater so should be easy to get under.

One question on that though, how does LTIR work with it now? For example, I have Kenny Ryan on the IR for over a month but I clearly don't need the cap space that having him there affords me. Do I still take the credit or does it go against my gamely cap hit (same thing for the Rags with Jarret Stoll)?

Re: October 7, 2015
LTIR doesn't reduce your cap hit, it just gives you extra cap room. The moment you put someone on LTIR, you are allowed to exceed the cap by player salary - team cap room, to a minimum of zero, of course. So if you're 5M under the cap and lose a 4M player, you get no benefit. For teams near the cap, you don't get to bank LTIR room. If you're, say, 500k under the cap (67.5M), lose a 4M player to LTIR, and replace him with a 1M player, your new cap is 68.5M and under the 72M limit, but your cap hits gets recorded as 68M and you bank *zero* cap space for the deadline, rather than 3.5M.Vik (Habs) wrote:One question on that though, how does LTIR work with it now? At some point I'll update the rulebook to clarify this.

Also, I win. Take that, Hugo!
Blaine Byron is just 4 goals away from a new career season high.
Oh, might I add, major props to Pavel Kulikov on the farm, who got an assist, then a natural hat trick, probably some fights (10 PIM? Yeahhhh) and another goal. So let's say that's a Gordie Howe hat trick and a natural hat trick on top in the same game.

What is happening with teams over the cap ? Especially since teams had all offseason to take care of this ?
