2015 EHEC Entry Draft

Okay, folks, so we're less than 72 hours away from this year's draft, and it's time to remind everyone just how this works.

We will start at NOON on Friday, June 26th. There will be separate threads for each round in the Entry Draft forum on the boards, plus one (already exists) called "Total Draft Results." Whenever a pick is made, league staff will update the proper threads. Check the applicable thread to see when your next pick is up, and when it is, just post a reply to that thread with your pick. Be as short- or long-winded as you like with your post. If it is your turn to pick, but the top of each thread has not yet been updated, go ahead and make your pick anyway. Let's try to keep the draft rolling along as best as we can. (Last year's draft took 3 weeks to finish, which was pretty good for us.)

There are time limits for making a pick in each round. They can be found in the rulebook, but I'll list them here as well:
1st round -- 12 hours from previous pick
2nd round -- 12 hours
3rd round -- 8 hours
4th round -- 8 hours
5th round -- 6 hours
6th round -- 6 hours
7th round -- 6 hours

If you do not make the time limit, your pick will be made automatically by league staff. (See note below.) If you think you will not be around to make your own pick, PM me with a draft list so I can make your pick for you. (For example, your next selection is 5 picks away and you're going out of town. Send me a list with at least 5 available players on it, in order of preference, and we'll make your pick from those players, as appropriate.)

Also, do not comment on picks in the draft threads. They are for picks only. Any extraneous comments will be deleted. We can create a thread for draft commentary in the League Memos forum if you want.

AUTOMATIC PICKS: If you do not make your pick in the allotted time, or if you request the league to just "autopick" for you (as is often requested in late rounds), your pick will be made according to the best available list from the REAL-LIFE draft list, NOT according to the EHM generated board. League staff will maintain this list, so you will not know who you're getting until the pick is made. That is your penalty for not caring. The league will also autopick for orphaned teams.

So it's just you we send a list to if we're not sure we'll be around to make the pick?

And one thing with trades: if the current pick is dealt, is there any extension to the time to allow for the trade to be accepted/rejected by the TC or does the new owner of the pick just make it and hope for the best?

We're discussing this as we speak AND you can send your list to me too. I'm pretty sure Dan's going to accept them as well, but I'm not going to put more work on his shoulders so when he reads this he can decide whether he wants them or not.

Plus, Dan's on the moon or something (ok, Australia) and may not see the list in time. Yes, send it to us and we'll make sure we're up on everyone's lists.

As for draft-day trades, we'll quickly approve minor, minor-ish, and balanced deals. Anything we have a question on, we'll discuss as quickly as possible. If it's coming up to the pick deadline and a trade hasn't been approved, we'll call a time-out or something so that you don't get screwed out of making your pick just b/c one of us was out drinking that day. Or in the basement drinking, whatever.

We haven't had anyone miss a pick due to a trade so far, iirc, and it won't happen this time either.

Also, due to the proximity of the draft, the changes I was planning to make on about a dozen or so players, I will no longer be making. So, some guys will just be over- or under-rated, compared to their real-life counterparts.

One change I will make, however, is that Michael Fora will only be a D, not a D/C like he is currently.

I like changes! I vote for making the changes, as long as we know who changed.

Or just to spice up one player, I found a random article saying that Mitchell Vande Sompel played wing for a few games this season. That'll boost his value some...

And just because I'm on the moon doesn't mean I can't take picks. I stay up unreasonably late.

Agreed for Vande Sompel. He should have the alternate position of Center, as he played some shifts there during the season and even at the Memorial Cup.

Oh, and these will be the final changes, barring any mistakes in ceilings, names, etc. If you want to make a case for anyone else getting a secondary position added or changed, make it (with proof) by midnight tonight. After that, it's WYSIWYG.
