Re: Activity Check
Hey everyone, we want to be sure everyone is committed to managing their team for the upcoming marathon that is the NHL regular season. This activity check is designed to be sure that long time GMs are still up for the challenge of running their team and that new GMs have not disappeared before walking through the front door. I’ve been in contact with some of you through PM already, so consider yourselves accounted for. Also, if I have seen you post in the last 24 hours I’ve marked you active. In addition, I will be sending out PMs to ensure this thread does not get overlooked.
Thanks for taking the time to check in. Please leave your name in the thread as we have a lot of new faces; it would be nice to get on a first name basis. This activity check will conclude by puck drop, October 8th.
Best of luck this season,
Justin C

Re: Activity Check
I know I'm biased on this one being in the toughest division in the league, but I really hate that 3 (CHI, CBS, WPG) out of 7 teams in the Central Division will be auto'd for who knows how long. It's basically a race between 4 teams for 3 guaranteed spots in the playoffs. When the injury bug bites a couple of these teams' best players, they'll go on the injury list and never get back in the line-up until you need to auto line again.
Now I know this might not be a popular idea, but why not assigning a temporary 2nd team to a couple GM's who are trustable, have time and interest to run 2 teams until a new GM is found? Make some special rules like banning from trading with your temporary team. Or not allowing to start your temporary team's back-up goalie when you're facing your original one. Of course, when a new GM is found, you must keep your original team and have to give the temporary one back.
I'm sure Eastern Conference GM's Justin, Bern and Mike could each take one of Chicago, Colorado and Winnipeg.
As for Western GM's I could take one, I'm sure Julien's dreaming of a 2nd team and maybe Dan could help and manage one for a while. We could split Ottawa, Washington and Columbus, all Eastern teams.
Just having someone sending in lines instead of auto'd would make a huge difference; you know how dumb this can be. Choosing the starts you're giving the back-up goalie, instead of switching at the 67th game and give 15 consecutive starts to a back-up, can also have a major impact.
I don't know, just thought I'd throw it out there.
Edit: Forgot about NYI.

Re: Activity Check
I'm down for that. I'll contact Adam and ask if I can take care of his team while he's on leave of absence.
Re: Activity Check
I kno wmy name wasnt mentioned in there but i would take over a team. I would just do lines, no trading at all....

Re: Activity Check
Pat is dealing with getting CLB and WPG under the cap.
It's an interesting idea. CHI has already been replaced, and ARI has said he has another friend who is interested in joining. I'm hopeful we can replaced all the vacant spots, and just have the league oversee CLB till he decides to return.

Re: Activity Check
Second what Justin said. Chicago is coming.
Regardless of how soon teams are filled, I have no intention of having teams auto'd into the ground when injuries strike. Should be more information over the next day or two.

Re: Activity Check
I like this idea.
Maybe just assign people to a 2nd team so that they can edit the lineups on a regular basis.
Maybe no trading or other major moves, but like Mike said it would be one less thing to worry about until we find new blood.
The time spent handling this can be spent for more important issues, like taking a break if you're called Bub.
Defenitely worth looking into.

Unfortunately, Tommy has left us. He hasn't responded to multiple PM's or e-mails. Dave has, and has assured Pat that he is interested in continuing to run his team. He was active on the forums today.

Re: Activity Check
Yeah, WPG is considered an open team now. Dave (CAR) is definitely around, just not that active on the boards.
I'm warming to the idea of having a not-same-conference GM lightly manage an empty team until filled to start the season. No trades, no waivers/releases without league agreement, but keep these teams from falling off a cliff for the time being.

Yeah didn't want to assume that Adam or anyone wouldn't be back. Just used the Activity Check post as an indicator. You guys know more than me on what's what.

Re: Activity Check
It's with great happiness that I was able to make CLB active again with Adam returning as a GM. We have, apparently, found a CHI GM and he should be registering on the boards soon.
That leaves us with 5 open teams. WPG, WSH, NYI, COL and OTT. I've made posts at various forums, but if anyone has any idea about where to recruit please post it in this thread. Don't be afraid to get creative. If you have an account at the forums, PM me and I will send you a post you can copy/past/post on our behalf.

Thanks for this, Justin.
Yes, we have a new CHI GM, and he should be on board shortly. I'll introduce him once he's done so. At least he doesn't have a game tonight.

Just noticed that some GMs aren't around actually.
Pretty dissapointing when you'd like to trade with some of them.... WSH and CAR catched my eye f.e.

Dave is around; Washington did just leave us, I can confirm. We do have someone on the hook for it, and I hope to announce a replacement very soon.
