As my upload crawls along...the Coyotes, Sharks, and Devils all enjoy shutouts tonight while the Pens nip the Rangers in a shootout. The Jackets PP gets on track with a couple minor tweaks and the Flyers and Jets also right their ships to give the Committee a 3-0 night. Calgary dominates the Kings and Kari Lehtonen stands on his head for the Blues. The Maple Leafs continue their quest a playoff berth by beating the orphaned Wild.

Mr. Helenius stands firm facing more shots than his opposite number yet he records a shut out whilst we put up 3 goals on just 16 shots

The good: 8 powerplays!
The bad: Only one goal :?

The good: Ryane Clowe beating that skate-eating jerk Jarkko Ruutu.
The bad: Jumbo Joe, why the hell would you fight Chris Neil with 12 minutes to go in a 4-0 game?

The good: Calgary smacking down LA. Thanks buddy.
The bad: Fuck you Shane Doan!

And finally Alec Martinez gets his first NHL point while Clowe gets an assist, wins a fight and is still slumping.

Great coaching by Bob Hartley! Pulled the goalie with more than 1:30 left and it worked! Way to believe in his players.

And, Go Flames Goooooooooo.

Solid come back win.

Tokarski and the 2nd line make up for last game with solid contributions and of course the 1st line continues to shine. 8-)

Yeah, like you're really going to shut down Shane Doan. The biggest disgrace in this league is the fact that he hasn't won a Hart Trophy yet. :P

Three straight shutouts for Phoenix. Sure they're not against the cream of the league's crop, but we'll take them. Hey James, I hope you're relieved that I decided to start taking Detroit seriously instead of starting my backup. ;)

Thanks Parker!

Geez I forgot to put my backup in! Guess i am going to put him against Columbus NTZ Jackets....

Although I hate drafting russians (how many cups do their stars actually win?) but looks like Grigwhateverkov might make the team next year

Bryzgalov just finished winning a Cup for Phoenix, though I guess his status as a star is debatable.

EDIT: I think it's funny that you'd make that kind of crack about Russians as the GM of the Red Wings, the team that pretty much pioneered importing Russian players successfully. They even won a Cup with their all-Russian "Red Army" line (Fedorov-Larionov-Kozlov-Fetisov-Konstantinov) but yeah, Russian stars never win. ;)

If you'd like, I could run & gun all four lines so you have a better chance at winning and not being in the lottery for the #1 pick.

He did win last year! With 10 out of 13 votes. I just couldn't get a hold of last year's file to update the forums and announce the winners.

I'm impressed. New players on my team are making me look like a genius. Tied with the St.Louis Blues, my team shows the best record in the past 10 games and that's something I'm proud of.

Oh, sweet! We'll have to hold a belated Hart Trophy parade in downtown Glendale. If it even has a downtown.

Hmm while I'm on the subject (sort of) I wonder if I should volunteer to clean up some of the player histories in the game file. Some of them seem to belong to the wrong players (tons of extra farm/international experience on 18 year-old prospects) and some have the wrong trade histories, etc. No big deal but it'd be cool if that info was accurate. I'd like us to start adding farm playoff stats to the histories too if we could.

Actually, I got a 8-2-0-0 record in my last 10 games, 10-2-0-0 in 12. Weird that the EHM standings indicate a shootout loss (7-2-0-1) in the Last 10 column. Not one fuck is given, I know. Just don't get why EHM would get it wrong.

I've been working through the career file on and off to correct the stats for recent draftees. For example, my 2011 draftee goalie Liam Liston apparently had a long career as a forward in his early teens before switching to goalie last year. :) It doesn't matter for game play, but it just cleans things up a bit.

Last year, I was changing around career.car as I did the draft class for the first couple rounds and then got tired of giving myself the extra work and said fuck it.

Wasn't planning on doing it this year at all, but since the subject came up, I guess I'll update career.car as I go along.
