The door closes on EHEC's record-breaking 13th regular season, and it was a doozy. The conclusions:
- CBJ defeats PIT, ensuring that they will face each other in the first round as 3v6.
- CHI does a favour and blanks DET, helping them finish behind STL. LA-CHI 1v8 was guaranteed anyway.
- EDM also shuts out COL in a 1-0 thriller featuring a whopping 27 total shots. EDM would have finished 3rd regardless, but the hotheaded Kotkaniemi decided to run Konovalov for some reason, taking him out for three crucial weeks in COL's season and earning Kotka a rather untimely 3-game suspension.
- WPG defeats DAL 3-1, also ensuring that they will face each other in the first round as 3v6. This also sets the other two Western matchups - EDM vs SJ 4v5, and ANA vs NSH 2v7. Funnily enough, each series features exactly one Pacific team, so there will be no divisional matchups.
- Finally, in possibly the most consequential game, NJ's Mikhail Sergachyov is an utter asshat and scores a completely unnecessary overtime winner vs BOS, dropping the Devils to 5th last in the league. I'm placing him on the block immediately. In the meantime, the Bruins' defeat puts them in 8th, so they'll face OTT in round 1, while MTL vs FLA 2v7 should be interesting. The last series, TB vs NYR 4v5, was already set last night.
More info on playoffs tomorrow. Before that, though, let's all thank the simmers, trade committee members, and give yourselves a pat on the back for making this regular season possible.

This league is a perfect storm of fun and thanks everyone for being involved. A really welcome escape from the pandemic I gotta say. Thanks for everyone, no matter your contributions. Most of all to Dan, who is the true hero we all don't deserve.

Awesome season guys, and big thanks to the simmers for making it possible.
So the Avs get the best possible scenario and finish third-last, but we all know we'll be bumped to 6th in the lottery. Who knew we could play spoiler and help SJ by scoring zero goals and losing our backup goalie for zero games? lol
Winnipeg's third-place finish in the West and fifth in the league makes Justin's decision to start selling (and then quit) even more puzzling.
The parity in the West compared to the soggy corn mush of the East is pretty funny. 2 v 7 are separated by 10 points in the West and 34 points in the East.

Looks like O'Reilly tripped him in the 1st and he adopted the Israel playbook of disproportionate response?

Meanwhile, my AHL team wound up with four 50-goal scorers - can anyone match that?

This has been interesting for probably like 1/2 the season to this point. If the amazing podcast had continued I'm sure it would have been touched on in interesting and fun waysAvalancheGM wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 9:19 am The parity in the West compared to the soggy corn mush of the East is pretty funny. 2 v 7 are separated by 10 points in the West and 34 points in the East.

Holy frig. Between your 82 SH Sergei Barbashev and my 96 PL Ivan they could be quite a duo.Edmonton Mike wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 9:32 amI got:AvalancheGM wrote: ↑Wed Apr 20, 2022 9:28 am Meanwhile, my AHL team wound up with four 50-goal scorers - can anyone match that?

I wanted to make my lines for the first playoff game, but it's not possible to promote a player from AHL to NHL........

I was able to - is it because you are at the 23-player limit?Dallas Stars GM wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 4:07 pm I wanted to make my lines for the first playoff game, but it's not possible to promote a player from AHL to NHL........

Dan would know best but the 23-player limit is because EHM limits teams to 23 players. It has nothing to do with the salary cap. I don't believe the program changes come playoff time.Dallas Stars GM wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 1:32 am There is no 23 player limit in the playoffs I believe

Who specifically are you trying to promote?Dallas Stars GM wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 4:07 pm I wanted to make my lines for the first playoff game, but it's not possible to promote a player from AHL to NHL........
There is no roster size limit in the playoffs, in-game or otherwise. You still need to confirm farm lines for some reason but those can be filled with fastsigns if needed.NYRNYRNYR wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 9:02 amDan would know best but the 23-player limit is because EHM limits teams to 23 players.
